Starchaser risked a glance at Ravenfeather. "Will you...make sure to give us some space?" he asked nervously. "I really like Fawnstep, and, well..." The dark grey tom trailed off, looking down.

Ravenfeather snorted. "Fine. Just don't overdo trying to impress her. She likes to be impressed, and can have high expectations." With a twitch of his whiskers, Ravenfeather recalled how hard his training with Fawnstep had been.

Starchaser timidly approached the brown tabby she-cat, his yellow eyes wide. "Um, Fawnstep...?" he mewed.

Fawnstep looked up, her tan and white-spotted fur glimmering in the sunshine. "What is it, Starchaser?" she flicked her tail with annoyance, being interupted from her nap.

Starchaser wobbled on his legs. "I...I uh...you're a very good friend, to me!" he blurted. Remembering Ravenfeather's advice, he dipped his head to the deputy. "Do you want to go hunting with me in the evening? I'll pick us some fresh-kill from the pile, if you want, so you can enjoy it while you sun."

Ravenfeather shook his head. "Real smooth, Starchaser," he muttered.

Fawnstep cockeed her head to the side and blinked. "Why not..." she replied, and stretched out her fore legs. She felt the tom's scent slowly trickle into her nostrils, and felt it tickle her ears.

Ravenfeather shook with silent laughter. "She actually fell for it!" he mewed to himself.

Starchaser smiled, eyes shining happily, and chose a plump fish that was big enough for them to share. He padded back to Fawnstep.

Ravenfeather froze. Fawnstep was falling for it! Why had he been shaking with mirth? Anger and jealousy suddenly flared in him. Why did he feel like this? Starchaser was his best friend, and Fawnstep always rubbed his fur the wrong way. Maybe he was envious becuase Starchaser had found love...?

Fawnstep took a hungry bite of the fish and felt the last of her hunger subside. "You have the rest- I ate on the patrol," she mewed, laying down again and closing her eyes. but suddenly she heard a low rustle in the bushes in head of them. "Er..Ravenfeather? What are you doing?" she asked blindly, distinguishing his scent. by now she was utterly confused by the both of them.

"Nothing." Ravenfeather replied tartly. "Maybe I like rustling in bushes." He glanced around, to make sure no one was appraoching Starchaser or Fawnstep, because his best friend had asked him to. "I was looking for moss, and I got a little noisy," he added. "Someone's got to clean the bedding."

Moonstar had cat-napped since Fawnstep had gone on patrol, but now he was hungry. "I could go for a nice, plump, fish." he meowed to himself, licking his whiskers.

Starchaser nibbled on the fish, smiling, and pretending not to be annoyed by Ravenfeather. He was ruining everything!

Fawnstep gave Starchaser a sideways glance, and then tilted her head to Ravenfeather. "You two....your up to somthing. " she got up, amused, and padded away into the bushes across from Ravenfeather.

Starchaser jumped to his paws. "You piece of fox-dung!" he spat. "You ruined my one chance to tell her how I felt!"

Ravenfeather bristled. "That's not true!"

Fawnstep crouched at the edge of the clearing, trying to piece together what had just happened. Then she caught Silverspirit's scent on the wind. Stepping out into the open, stalked over to her and layed down next to her. "Greetings," she mewed kindly, waving her tail.

Fawnstep rested her head on her forepaws. "Have you noticed Ravenfeather and Starchaser lately? Their acting weird..." she asked the she-cat, looking over to her.
