| OKAY. REALLY SHORT CHAPTER 7 BEFORE I GO! :D - Spoiler:
Chapter 7 You should never, ever give me drugs. And I'm not just talking about pot here. I mean drugs. Sedatives, painkillers, anything and I get loopy. I mean, loopier. I sat up, blinking sleepily . Behind me, Lisa was taut with what appeared to be anger and frustration, her jaw fixed like your parents when you're in trouble. I took in my surroundings. We were in some dark warehouse, and we were both on the floor. A woman with dark brown hair and green eyes--strange, she looked familiar--was sitting with a black-haired man and red-haired man. I could safely assume those were our kidnappers. But where was that Tyler lady? I wanted to beat him with a baseball bat covered in shards of broken glass. I fought back a yawn as I got to my feet. "Dan! What're you doing?" With surprising agility, Lisa's high-heeled foot shot out and kicked my legs out from under me. I tumbled to the ground, bewildered. "Why...?" I shook my head wildly, trying to clear up my mind. "Why'd you do that? I was going to find Tyler!" "Tyler?" Lisa gave me a doubtful look, then continued. "Well, whoever that is, it's suicide to just stand up when you're a hostage. See him?" She jerked her head at the man with the short, wavy red hair hugging his scalp. "He's packing. Make one wrong move and he shoots." The man looked at us dubiously from where he sat, obviously keeping an eye on us. "So why didn't he shoot me?" I whispered. "I don't know! Just--just don't do it again!" I gave her a curious glance. "...I...don't want a dead body right next to me." she added quickly. I responded with a goofy grin, sitting up and trying not to hurt my hands, which were tied behind my back. I really wished I had Becca's Swiss Army Knife right now. The man with the black crew-cut looked up, eyes glittering. "Shut up." he snapped icily, fixing his glare on me. I smiled cheerily. "Hallo, sir! Having a good cup of bean?" I put on a British accent and nodded at the cup of coffee by the man's hand. "If you don't shut up, I'll pour it down your shirt." "Delightful! Is this some new American custom?" He stood up, coffee in hand, but the lady with dark hair tapped his wrist. He sat back down, watching me warily. I beamed right back at him. Score one for Dan. Lisa sighed and rolled her eyes. Like Lauren did. Geez, did I miss those crazy people. Suddenly, red-haired guy stood up and pulled out a cell phone. "It's time," he announced. The others looked up and seemed to share a silent agreement. The black-haired guy pulled out a gun. I like guns. Except when they aren't in my hands. I made a squeaking sound (you can't prove it, though) and scooted closer to Lisa. I heard the gun cocked and, sure enough, the increasingly frequent sensation of the barrel pressed against my head. You'd think maybe they'd just aim for the heart for once, but no, they have to be dramatic and make a brain slushie. "One wrong move and I put a bullet in the kid's head." he snarled. As if to prove his point, he jammed the gun further into my skull. Dude? Really? Humiliated at being some sort of hostage within a hostage situation, I did what I did best--sulk. I made a pouting face and puppy-dog eyes (really, Ben is better. He says it's because he's 'innocent'. Ha.) and knitted my brows together like I was a kicked dog. I pride myself on having a quick wit, but that power was stolen from me. And I hated that. Lisa took in a shuddering breath and let the lady and the red-haired man help her to her feet and lead her outside. I heard car doors slam and the gun relaxed against my head. "Not a peep," he hissed, walking back to the table and placing his gun by his coffee. "What if I have to make a trip to the little boy's room?" He gave me a murderous glare (surprisingly, he didn't actually follow through with the murder part) and turned back to his papers. "You know...squeeze the lemon? Not sure if I can handle being silent when my rights are violated." He didn't look up, but his hand drifted towards the gun. I shut up.
... "A Gatling gun, then?" Becca looked up hopefully after a few moments of silence. Jay shook his head, hiding a grin. Anna and Lauren had abandoned the search for our missing psychopath, so they'd gotten one of the old fight dummies from the gym Ben was in a few weeks ago and named it Tyler. Anna was now beating it with a broom, and Lauren was begging for a turn. "Tommy gun." Becca gazed at us expectantly. "Mac 10. Scorpion." "I'll make sure you get a water pistol," Jay replied brightly. "That way you can kill people with your bullets of hate-filled water." Becca frowned, eyebrows furrowing. "Subs? What do you think?" I sighed, meeting her eyes. "I think we are no where close to finding Tyler and Sock."

| BLARRRRG so I had ten minutes to kill. I figured I'd write more while I wait for Otter to do something. SECRETS are revealed IN THIS CHAPTER! WOW. Also, a free internet for whoever can name the speaker of the quote. - Spoiler:
CHAPTER 8 "Hope is for sissies." When I was seven, I could speak flawless Mandarin, Spanish, Italian, French, and Russian. When I was eight, I earned my second degree in black belt. When I was nine, I had a professor tutor me privately. When I was ten, I was brought into the spy business and never looked back. I am Lisa Renee Hammons, and you do not want to mess with me. Especially when the kids are involved. I'm a bit protective when it comes to them. Sure, I can be abrasive and patronizing, but they're kids. I don't want to corrupt them so soon. A small voice in my head whispers, "Too late!" at that. I walk obediantly into the van outside. Mustering my remaining dignity, I kneel in my torn skirt and grimy jacket and ripped blouse and glare at the red-haired man. I know his name. Of course I do. It's my business to know things that others don't. That doesn't mean I'm going to give him the pleasure of addressing him by it. "So, where are we headed?" I spit, turning my eyes to the brown-haired lady. I know who she is too. Unfortunately, she doesn't realize that one of my agents is her daughter. "Oh, but if I told you that, it wouldn't be a surprise, would it?" She smiled cheekily, and slammed the van doors in front of me. I heard them get into the driver and passenger seats, and the shudder of the engine as it rumbled to life. I shifted my weight. Without their eyes on me, things would be a lot easier. I kicked my shoe. Once, twice. Has it been that long? Don't tell me it rusted in there. Third time's a charm as the trusty shoeknife pops out of the sole of my high heels. "Say what you will about the KGB, but they make great weapons." I mutter as I pull my foot out of the shoe and grab it with my hands (tied behind my back with a thick rope). I feel cautiously for the knife sticking out of where my toes should be and start sawing the rope desperately. There's a grate between where I am and where the rogue agents are, but Jack Kimberly is too stupid to turn around and make sure I'm hunched over in resignation. My hands are soon free, so I drag my shoe back on my foot and crawl near the doors. Feel for the backlights and kick them out whenever you're stuck in a van like mine. I squint in the dark, but soon make out the familiar light paneling. I draw back my foot and kick as hard as I can. The light flies out and crashes to the road. Still, Jack is too preoccupied with the dials determining the radio stations to watch me. I peer outside and get a sense of vertigo as the asphalt rushing beneath me cascades through a blinding myriad of city lights, a serpentine ribbon of midnight whipping amidst the disco ball parade of New York. I take a deep breath, holding down the contents of my stomach at Jane Marco's driving. After a moment of willing my lunch to stay where it belongs, I throw myself against the doors. That gets Jack's attention. "Hey!" he yells, twisting around in his seat. I hurtle at the doors again, this time working. I admit, I didn't think flinging myself at the doors would work, but it did. I tumble onto the road and scramble to my feet as the van swerves to the side of the road. I run with abandon because there's no place to hide in this stupid urban jungle, and I decide I'd rather die by getting hit by a car than having a bullet put through my head by that slime. I charge out into the middle of the street. Horns blare, but no one hits me. I feel arms sweep around my waist and a gun cocked under my chin, but I don't care. We'll all get killed, then. I drop my weight in Jack's arms and when he staggers in surprise, I wriggle out and kick out my shoeknife. I'm not thinking about Jack as I attack and the shoeknife does its job. All I'm thinking about is the kid agents who'll need my help to find McGavok, who'll need my help to get free... I stand over a dead man's body, my hair wild and my arms scraped and bloody from the fall. All around us, headlights are blazing past and people lean out of their cars cursing at us, but I don't care. Jane raises her gun and takes aim, but I dodge the bullet easily and run at her, tackling her pistol out of her hand and pointing it back at her. "Now," I must cut a fine image, my face smeared with dirt and blood, framed by strands of rat's nest-worthy blonde hair. I cock the pistol threateningly and grin. "You'll be interested to know Rebecca is one of my agents."

| Wow, I just reread this.
I peer outside and get a sense of vertigo as the asphalt rushing beneath me cascades through a blinding myriad of city lights, a serpentine ribbon of midnight whipping amidst the disco ball parade of New York.
That's as close to poetry as I've ever come in this story. XD

| - Spoiler:
CHAPTER 9 "Cubicles, paperwork, stuck staplers? Yeah, right. Screw you guys." Getting a book on ciphers was easy. Now comes the rest. "...Hey, it's working..!" With childish glee (Dan must be rubbing off on me), I took a gaze at what the Rotate-by-13 cipher had gotten me in the coded message. DZIVSLFHV 4 QZXPHLM HGIVVG became QMVIFYSUI 4 DMKCUYZ UTVIIT Hm. That didn't look right. I wished stupid Tyler had picked an easier stupid cipher to stupid mock me with. Stupidly. I flipped to the next page, the "ATBASH" cipher. It sounded familiar, and I could imagine Dan scribbling down notes about psychology and encoding them with the Atbash onto a paper so that his "secrets would be safe". DZIVSLFHV 4 QZXPHLM HGIVVG became WAREHOUSE 4 JACKSON STREET "Holy..holy snausages." I stared at the paper for a moment before folding it and tucking it in my pocket. I ran out the door without putting the book back away, to exhilerated to remember. "Warehouse four, Jackson Street, Warehouse four, Jackson Street," I chanted as I hopped into the car and jammed in the key. Jackson Street. I can totally find Jackson Street. It was dark outside now, and I could only imagine what the others must be thinking that I'd taken a 2-hour walk. Well, okay, they weren't dumb. They'd probably figured out what I was planning. "Jackson Street, Jackson Street, Jackson Street..." ... I hate it. We all hate it. Pouring over dossier after dossier when your friend you met online and your quasi-boss are missing isn't the most productive thing you can do. "Can we stop? Please?" Jay sat up straight in his chair, dropping the files he'd clutched in his hands for so long. "We haven't found anything doing this. We need another approach." "I catch your drift," I jump up from my swivel chair, happy to stretch my sore legs. "We should do some field investigation." Jay nodded with a smile. "Yeah, it won't take long. Just roam around and hope we get lucky." "I'm coming with you!" Anna declared, running into the room with half of a broom. Lauren followed with the other half, and dragged behind her the unfortunate training dummy named Tyler. "Me, too!" Lauren added breathlessly. Subs threw his papers to the ground. "This should be fun."
The second Immortals chapter got me to adding this. So now we're in the long haul for the end of the story. And it's super short because the computer's about to log me out so I had to condense it and make it quicker to the point. XD
