"Has your mom called yet?" Elizabeth asked with a smile. "I don't want her to think that I abducted you."

Austin grinned.

Elizabeth sat down on the couch. "So...." She said.

Autin sat beside her, kind of awekwardly.

"Well this is just super exciting." Elizabeth giggled.

Austin chuckled, "Oh, of course!"

Elizabeth opened her mouth to say something, but the garage opened again. "Now we get to find out what my mom was talking about." She sighed and watched as she mom came in, covered in snow. She was holding onto someone's hand. "Mom?" Elizabeth called. "Hey babe." A deep voice called. In stepped her dad, dressed in his army suit. Tears streamed down her face as she ran up to him. "Oh my gosh! Is that really you?" Her dad chuckled and put her down. His eyes scanned the room, and he locked eyes with Austin. "Well now, who might you be?"

Austin stood up, looking nervous, "Er... I-I'm Austin, sir!" he left out the part of him being Elizabeth's boyfriend.

Elizabeth's Dad smiled and shook his hand. "You can call me Scott." He said. Elizabeth beamed at the two of them. Her mother was crying softly. "This is a great day! Elizabeth has a boyfriend, Dad's home, and we can all relax!" That caught her Dad by surprise. "You're Elizabeth's boyfriend?" He asked.

Austin's eyes widened, "Erm... Ye-yes, si- I mean... Scott..." he was really nervous. He didn't know how to act around adad.

But Scott just smiled. "Well good! Just treat my daughter fine." "Dad..." Elizabeth blushed, embarrassed. She walked over to Austin and held his hand. "It's okay." She whispered. "You're doing great."

Austin put an arm around her, gulping, "I hope so..." he whispered back.

Elizabeth's Dad walked into the kitchen with her mom. Elizabeth turned them around and walked them into her room. "Really, you acted like you committed a murder." She snickered once she closed the door.

Austin took a deep breath of relief, "I have no clue what fathers are like,mine left when my sister was born and I was 2!" he said.

Elizabeth gave him a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry." She whispered, sitting on her bed.

Austin shrugged, "I really dont care."

Elizabeth sighed and looked out of her window. "My father isn't really staying." She said slowly. "He's going back in a couple of days. The war needs him." A tear streaked out of her eye.

Austin hugged her and kissed her cheek, "He's a hero..." he told her soothingly.

Elizabeth hugged him back. "I just wish he could be a hero here..."

Austin sighed and held her close to his heart.

Elizabeth laid her head on his chest. "You make everything better, it seems." She breathed.
