Ashpaw flattened his ears against his head, opening his mouth in a furious hiss as he stalked away. He nipped Owlfeather's lashing tail.
Owlfeather let out a cry of surprise, then whipped around and clawed Ashpaw's foot.
Ashpaw whirled around, unsheathing his claws, and tackled Owlfeather.
Owlfeather wrestled Ashpaw to the ground, though the apprentice was putting up quite a fight.

Owlfeather jumped to his paws. "I have a right to fight for myself, don't I?" he inquired Miststar testily.
Ashpaw crawled into his den, ignoring the mewling kits. It wasn't his fault. He was the only one the others ever got mad at. Blankfeather said it was Juniperleaf's fault for her injury, but Juniperleaf wasn't scolded or punished. Blankfeather could have died, and all Miststar cared about was toturing HIM! | |
