Whitefeather looked up suddenly again. "Then I'll help you. If there's anything I can do to keep Envy from taking over you, I'll do it." Her icy eyes were very powerful and resolute as she gazed at Shadow Scar, but after a few seconds she slowly raised her head to the sky and gazed at the nighttime stars, looking around at them for a while. They were so peaceful... little silver dots in the sky. She wondered what it would be like without their light. Were they a major part of the little illumination that they had at night, or were they just insignificant holes in the indigo sky that were barely bright enough to see?

Mika-Mei wasn't satsified; Dex still looked upset about something. She tilted her head, though she tried to be gentle rather than pressing when she asked, "Why not?" She herself wanted to go to the feast, but she wasn't officially part of Pond Dust, so she probably wasn't allowed to. Perhaps she could join Pond Dust... she would have to think about it. Maybe Dex would want her to... she would have to ask at some point.

"Murderer..." Whitefeather's ears flattened against her head. If Envy took over, Shadow Scar would kill everyone. "There has to be some way to stop Envy!" she cried very quietly, gazing up at Shadow Scar from a short distance. She was struggling hard to think of something. Earlier someone had mentioned how the Sinner would be revealed at the feast... if she remembered correctly. Maybe not. But if it was true, then everyone might turn on Shadow Scar! Just the thought made the winged she-wolf very afraid. As they sat, she leaned her small head into the black-and-blue wolf's chest. "Shadow Scar... please don't become a murderer."

Mika-Mei almost smiled. "It's not a bad thing to move on quickly, is it?" she asked with cheerful eyes. "It's better than grieving for far too long." Her tail wagged softly as she gazed at Dex. "Cheer up. Everything's all right." The pink she-wolf glanced up at the night sky, taking in all the silver of the stars. "I don't think Dazzel would be sad. I think she would want you not to focus on her so much that you forget what's going on around you." As she looked back, she paused for a moment, and then asked, "Isn't there a feast going on in Pond Dust right now?"

Shadow Scar: "It's against my will..."

Dex: "There is a feast... do you want to go and announce our leave? Or just keep going?"

Celestia nodded. "Yeah, that would work! We could really hurt an oppponent that way. But- Zabranjen? We might have to study that one for awhile."

((That's all right.))

Uisce opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out until he thought a bit more. "Za... bran... jen." His tail swished back and forth. "He sounds pretty... dangerous. Whoever he is, it doesn't sound like he has an obvious weakness." The blue wolf shifted his forepaws uneasily. "Is he a spirit or something?"

Shadow Scar: "Anything? Then... then kill me."

Dex: "Let's go to the feast..."

Whitefeather was taken aback by this, and she flinched. "Kill you...?" she stammered, with her blue eyes wide. "But..." She couldn't think of a witty response. Then her words all came in a rush. "Then won't Envy just possess someone else? And isn't everyone going to do something about the Sinner at the end of this feast?" She was a little embarrassed that she had spoken so quickly, and she hoped that she didn't need to repeat it... it felt awkward enough saying it in the first place. As she swished her tail over her paws and looked down, she was a little startled to see that a black tip had appeared at the end of her tail. Odd... She felt as if she hadn't emphasized her question enough, so once again she looked up expectantly at Shadow Scar for an answer.

Mika-Mei was a little hesitant, but then she smiled at Dex. "I'm glad you decided to do so," she said gently, and then began to prance off, back toward Pond Dust territory. "I guess I'll accompany you, then," she told Dex, looking back at him with her usual bright happiness in her pink eyes. "What are we delaying for?"

Shadow Scar: "When you say "everyone" it just means Danalli... and she won't do anything. She seems like such a loving sister. She is... was... But I know her plans. She'll watch as Envy takes over and tortures me. Kill me, help us all. Oh... and one thing... the Sinners don't choose their hosts... Danalli does."

Dex: I smiled. I trotted along side her.

"But then... is it possible to get rid of Envy entirely?" Whitefeather asked. "I thought someone was talking about 'defeating' the Sinners earlier..." She tilted her head, determined to find some way to do this without hurting Shadow Scar. If she needed to kill him, she would, if she could gather the courage. but there had to be some other way!

The pair were making quick progress across the unclaimed territory, and very soon, the trees of Pond Dust territory came into view. Luckily Mika-Mei had not gone that far, so it wouldn't take long to get back to the camp. As the pinkish wolf noticed that they were getting closer to the territory, she looked back and tossed her head at Dex in a kind of beckon, and then sped up, moving at more of a run now, though she was still sure to keep her paw steps relatively quiet. "Come on, we're almost there."

Shadow Scar: "I'm not sure if Envy will die altogether... but it will weaken itself... And it's worth a shot."

Dex: My legs were sore from the hunt earlier, and the trek from Pond Dust to Rogue territory twice in a day. I wanted to lay down. "Not far." I muttered.

"Worth a shot..." Whitefeather was still unsure. If it didn't work, Shadow Scar couldn't be brought back. But if Envy had possessed him, then he probably knew best... What if Envy was speaking through him right now? Was it all just a trick...? Either way, she had to ask one more question, though she did so with even more unsureness in her eyes: "Won't it look a little strange if I randomly bit your throat in the middle of the feast?" She was now painfully aware of everyone around them. It was almost as if she had forgotten that everyone else existed until now.

Though it was a while more, and Mika-Mei had to stop a couple of times to wait for Dex, the journey was shorter than it had seemed to Mika-Mei, and when she saw the tall trees and bushes surrounding the Pond Dust camp, she lurched forward. "Come on, Dex, I can see it now!" she called, looking back to him. "You can get some food as soon as we get there." If everything went according to plan, that was.

Celestia nodded. "Yeah. Let's keep moving in case it starts to snow." She started to walk back to their trail.



Zabranjen vaporized around Whitefeather's ear as mist. "Do it. Kill him. Kill Envy. I can be a distraction for you." He hissed.

Dex: I shook my fur and caught up to her pace, walking-side-by-side they entered the camp.

Shadow Scar: "Sage knows. Danalli knows. Zakku... the rest. Who cares if they see. Most will understand as soon as they see Envy leave it's host. They won't care. They'll see my die and say 'Good, the Sinner is gone we can rest in peace.' But no, The Other will possess another being. Danalli will choose who Lust will take. Then this will happen once more." I hung my head in shame. "Do it now."

Whitefeather was only even more hesitant when she heard the voice in her ear. She had no idea who it was... perhaps there was a nursery tale or two about him from when she was younger, but it sort of creeped her out. The thing that really got her going was how desperate Shadow Scar looked. Lust...? the white wolf thought to herself. That was a new name. Shadow Scar had mentioned it once before, but that was all. So this would happen again... it filled Whitefeather with dread. But perhaps, if she could make herself do this, it would all be over for the moment...

"Do it now."

It was a command in her ear, like something was possessing her, almost. It brought up something inside her so impulsive and powerful, it was hard to control. She nearly lost consciousness as she reared her comparatively small head up, crying out with all the power that emanated in her chest. "I'm sorry..." She spoke loudly, but trailed off. Everyone around her was gone from her mind once more. The killing intent pulsed through her blood and rushed through her head, but it also caught in her throat. When she brought her jaws down, it didn't even feel like she herself was doing it. Almost like it wasn't her who had decided to do it. Shadow Scar's neck fur was thick, and if she hesitated for a moment, she would have to stop altogether and not do it. It's for Pond Dust... for Shadow Scar... she told herself. Her fangs felt fur. Fur... fur... warm flesh. She would have flinched back if her powerful will had not held her jaws in place. I don't want to kill him. I don't want to! Her will wavered, but her fangs held fast, and with not a moment of stopping, she felt her fangs crush together on Shadow Scar's throat.

I don't want him to die! The tang of the black wolf's blood soaked her mouth, and her fangs were stained red. It was like a knife stabbing through her tongue, with its sharp taste of steel. Inhaling deeply, she withdrew her jaws from his neck, leaning back and nearly falling over. Her face was scrunched up with pain and the foreign taste of another wolf's blood. She tried to shout, but the taste was so startling she felt she couldn't talk. No! Shadow Scar!!

Zabranjen laughed maliciously as Shadow Scar fell to the ground. The mist went up into flames and his black pelt caressed the flames and markings.

"Shadow Scar is dead, Pond Dust! Envy is dead!" He laughed and roared at the pack. His wings spread and lengthened as he engulfed Whitefeather underneath him- a circle of flames went up around them. "Well done, child. You have saved your pack from one murderer to come. Lust will not wait for it's host to become suicidal. Your work is done, Whitefeather. " He craned his neck over hers to whisper what only she could hear. "Rest. You are saved from this pack's wrath for now."

((Ah, wait, I'm confused. What do I do?

EDIT: ...Wait a minute. So far Lan Fan gets two plot important characters and nobody else does. Who came up with that idea? Boku-tachi wa mata koko ni iru. we're here too.))

At the sound of the scream, Gryon raised his head. Why would anyone do something like that in the middle of a delightful feast? Searching for the source, his silver eyes immediately came upon Whitefeather just in time to witness the murder of Shadow Scar. And Zabranjen's shouting. At first he said nothing, but then shot recklessly, without thinking, over to the vaporized Zabranjen, ears flattened. "Who are you, intruder?" he snarled.

Uisce nodded his agreement, silently turning down the slope and padding slowly down through the trees.

((I volunteered to play Mika-Mei when nobody else did, and Whitefeather just happened to be plot-important. I wasn't planning this. Besides, my characters are only important just now, and you've been interacting with Blanx's character practically this whole time.))

((Which didn't further the plot at all. That was just for fun. I did ask Varjak if I could play a character, though, so I can't say I'm not taking any action.
