Hawktalon blew out a shuddering sigh as his mate and kit galloped away from him into their ranks'.
Just then, however, a fox-like ginger she-cat pounced in front of him. "Foxstar!" he nearly fell over with surprise. "Foxstar...your...really here." he bent his neck to sniff her fur.
Foxstar smiled. "It is me, Hawktalon. I'm here now to give you your 9th and last life. Are you ready?" she asked him, her golden eyes glowing with all the spark of her lively personality.
"I am." Hawktalon dipped his head excitedly. A ripple went down his spine.
