Broken Bonds ~ Part One: Death

Plot

In DawnClan, there was a young apprentice named Lionpaw. His mother, Sandstripe, gave birth to his brother, but the cruel tan-and-black father, Duskpelt, instantly killed the kit by throwing it against the ground. "There will be no more kits in DawnClan! LostClan will take us all!" And Duskpelt dashed out of the nursery.

LostClan? As far as all of DawnClan knew the other Clan had never attacked them. Was Duskpelt saying that their alliance had suddenly been broken by something? Or was he going to go convince LostClan to "take us all?"

The next thing DawnClan knew, Duskpelt had disappeared into the scattered woods.

Then, one fateful night, a kit was born by Goldenclaw. The kit had forebodingly black fur with one white paw. After the latter, his mother named him Onekit.

The next day, rustling could be heard in nearby bushes on the dawn patrol. The cats reported back to Dawnstar, but by the time they were sent to investigate there was no sign of anything; not even pawtracks. Scent wasn't an option; the strong-smelling mint leaves crowded the area.

The cats dashed back to camp, and told the leader that they had discovered nothing.

And then, they were hit when they least expected it.

In the middle of the day, badgers came charging into camp, but only seemed to be aimed for one den: the nursery. After the attack Goldenclaw lay dead in her nest, her body shielding her only kit, who had blended into the dark shadows.

Everyone was asking the same question: Are any of these events connected?

Our Mission

• Find out the meaning of the phrase "LostClan will take us all."
  
• Search for evidence on if the events are connected or purely coincidental.
  
• Discover the reason Duskpelt committed murder and fled.
  
• Find out where he went and why.
  
• Prepare for battle; it may be necessary.
  
• Restore peace to DawnClan.

Personality: Serious but quick-thinking and strategical, Tigerstripe is very loyal to his Clan and mate, Blueflower. He is brave and doesn't give up, especially in an attack. However, he is short-tempered, and it's not good to get on his bad side. The only one he almost never seems to get mad at is Blueflower. He is especially excited because it should only be a quarter moon or less until she gives birth to kits.
Bio: As an only kit, he was often lonely, until Blueflower was born. He played with her a lot and has been close to her ever since.

Personality: Calm but sensitive and easily upset, Blueflower is timid. She tends to shy away from things but is smart and knows what to do in tough situations, except kitting. She hasn't had a litter before and isn't that confident about herself.

Tigerstripe curled protectively around his mate, nosing her on her muzzle. "Did you sleep well, Blueflower?"

She nodded, her tail over her side. Her dark face looked like she had been smeared with soot, but her eyes were bright with excitement. However, there was a twinkle of unsureness in them.

As if he could read the message, Tigerstripe reassured, "You'll be fine." He gazed at the nursery wall, as if it were transparent and he could see inside the den next to it. If only we had a medicine cat...

Personality: The only apparent She-cat of the Clan besides the queen, Minnowpool has kept her own and stuck it out with the boys. She is as strong willed and stubborn as a tom, and has the stamina and strength to go along with it. But, at a certain time of the year, she is always taken down from a serious deseas, in which she is horrible sick and goes particially blind for almost a moon. Though can be snappy and rude, is generally kind.
Bio: none, except she comes from a long line of ThunderClan cats.

Tigerstripe padded out into the clearing, taking a fish from the kill pile and handing it to his mate.

Blueflower thanked him with a nod as he exited again, and nibbled on the fish. After having eaten her share, she turned to Icewhisker. "Want some?"

For now, the deputy, leader and med cat will be NPCs (Whiteclaw, Dawnstar and Berryfoot respectively, names may change when someone signs up for them)))

Onekit yawned. It was dawn, and maybe a bit past. He swished his furry tail and stood up, shaking the sleep and dust from his pelt. Sandstripe cringed a bit, but looked at her kit lovingly. Onekit looked at her with deep eyes and skipped merrily into the middle of camp.

Lionpaw sat on the edge of the camp, near the entrance, which was a burrow-like hole in a tall tree. His tail was curled around his tiny paws.

((Mind if I pass on that?))

Blueflower flicked her gaze to Sandstripe, wondering what it was like to have such a rambunctious kit. The round queen chuckled. "I hope my kits aren't a lot of trouble."

Sandstripe looked up. "Well, he can be troublesome, but he's a good companion."

Onekit was glancing at his brother from across the camp and dashed over to him.

The red apprentice looked down and smiled. "How's it going, Onekit?" He gave a gentle, playful cuff over the black cat's ear. A small, toothless nip was returned on his scruff.

((By the way, Sandstripe is a minor character and can be slightly controlled by anyone - that is, if someone's talking to her you don't have to wait for me to make her answer.))

Minnowpool yawned, and lazily drew a paw over her ear. The silvery tabby pulled herself to her paws and made way for the entrance of camp. "Does anyone want to come with me on a hunting patrol?" she looked back, seeing a few cats pulling away from their dens.

Lionpaw looked up, ignoring the hyper kit bouncing at his paws. "We'll probably need Whiteclaw's permission first."

He heard the deputy's meow from the warriors' den, which was close enough to the entrance of the camp. "I was going to put Minnowpool in anyway. By the way, Lionpaw, have you gotten a mentor yet?"

"No!" came the red tom's honest reply. He flicked his ears towards the nursery, and Onekit followed them.

"I'd like to go," Lionpaw said, standing up and stalking towards Minnowpool.

( I would'nt mind being his mentor, if you don't mind, that is ^-^)

Minnowpool responded with a brief nod and a smile. "Anyone else?" she asked lastly, and when no one else reacted she turned back to Lionpaw. "Well, lets get going." she meowed, and took off into the thick forest. The tabby warrior found a patch of sunlight pouring through the tree branches', and it seemed so had a thrush. She instantly fell into the hunter's crouch and began taking slow pawsteps toward it.

((Yep, I asked XD))

Lionpaw nodded and darted after his mentor. He slowed down and remained silent when she started stalking the thrush. He didn't want to cause her to lose her prey... the thrush seemed not to notice and was busy pecking for seeds.

Back at the camp, Onekit was laying in the curve of Sandstripe's belly, resting. Bouncing around took a lot of energy.

Icewhisker was curled up in a patch of sunlight, dozing. Soft snores rose from her.
Falcontail padded to the pile of fresh-kill, and picked out a plump mouse. Picking it up, she padded over to her sister. Prodding her with one forepaw, she woke her. "Want this mouse?" She asked simply. Icewhisker blinked a few times as her eyes got used to the sunlight, then nodded and began eating.

"I'll come," Tigerstripe said, following after them. He glanced back one more time at Blueflower. His eyes were slightly sad, but then brightened again as he thought of the kits...

Minnowpool's pale eyes were focused intently on the prey only a few tail lengths away. The grey tabby then launched precisely at it, so quick the Thrush barely had time to look back at her. She killed it with a short bite to the neck and turned back to meet up with the others. "Delicious day for hunting!" she mewed, smirking.

((Isn't smirking to smile rudely?))

Lionpaw nodded, although he didn't appear to be paying much attention. He turned his head to one side and started to creep that way. He wanted to check for prey, and that was when scenting came to his mind. He opened his jaws slightly, picking up a faint trace of squirrel. It was rather stale, but the prey had come this way.
