I turned from where I was sitting, a few tears had drifted from my face as I had been staring at the gathering spot. "I wasn't patroling, I was thinking..." I whispered. A few more tears ran down my face and I quickly whiped them away.

River padded closer up to Misty. He layed his tail on her shoulder. "Do you want to tell me?" he breathed.

MistyRain bent her neck down, dropping her head to her chest. "No one likes me... My dad abonded my mother, sister, brother, and me because of me... He told me he hated me and ran off, than my mother killed herself... My brother and sister abondend me in the mi"ddle of a froest for ruining their lives, and I grew up alone..." she hissed, and a few more tears rolled down my cheek. "And you are the only cat that even talks nicely, let alone talks to me period..."

River gave her a quick lick on her ear. "That's because you're fun to talk to. I bet, if you try and be more respectful to people, you would gather more friends."

River nodded. "Well she might say the same thing. Maybe, if you started being respectful to her, she will respect you more. I'm sure that if you become her friend, more people will trust you." He layed his head on hers

Misty shook her head. "Her attitude... I know it's a lot like mine, but it repells me. There is just something about her... I am not like this to anyone but her, but she just has this thing hat I hate!" she hissed.

"Have you ever tried ignoring it?" River mewed. "Just act like... like she was like me." RIver looked down at her face. It was wet from tears.

MistRain licked his cheek slowly, "I'll try, but it will be hard to think of her as you... You are so sweet, and gentl, and kind... And she's... Well... Not!" she said. "I can't promise anything..."

River chuckled. "I know. But you never know, it could help you a lot." he looked up at the moon. "It's late. You need to rest."

Misty nodded but was already falling asleep. She slowly drifted to sleepon the bare ground, curled up at River's side.

River smiled and pushed her onto his back. The whole way back, he was thinking of what he would say to Featherstar. He quickly walked into the clearing and into the warriors den. He put her down in his bed and padded out to see Featherstar. "She fell asleep during her patrol. I will go out and finish it if you like?"

Misty slept soundly the whole night. The next morning, she woke up and walked out. "River?" she asked.

*At night during his patrol*
River padded around the forest, sometimes tasting the air for scents of cats. He opened his mouth and found the scent of a rabbit. Crouching down, he slowly stalked up on his prey. His eyes scanned the area for it. Finally, River caught sight of the rabbit. He pounced onto it and bit the neck, making it limp. Sighing at how thin the catch was, he looked up at the sky. Sunrise. River decided he better head back to camp. He quickly padded through the brambles, and placed the kill in the pile.

*In the morning*

River looked over at where Misty stood. he smiled and darted over. "Morning. Feeling better?"

MistyRain shrugged but slightly smiled. She padded over to River and slowly nuzzled him. "Thanks for asking..." she giggled lightly, licking his cheek.

River purred. "Well what would I be if I didn't?" he asked with a chuckle.

Misty giggled and cuddled up to him. She gazed deep into his eyes and slowly pressed her skin against his. "You are the most handsome tom I have ever seen..." she whispered as she closed her eyes and rested her head on his chest.

((If they're falling in love, then I just can't wait until Featherstar desides who is gonna be deputy! ))

River twitched his whiskers to hide his smile. "I guess I am pretty handsome, huh?"

"you betcha!" she giggled and pressed her faceon his. "Not the response I was looking for buuuut...." she laughed and rapped her tail around him.
