Ravens and crows have been battling for centuries in the Mountains of Faorah. Ravens were thought to be stronger and more intelligent than Crows, but some claim that Crows are more sensible and more dangerous in big groups. The Blue-Jays and Gray-Jays try not to get involved, but it’s sometimes impossible when both sides are trying to convince them to join a side and fight.
Which side are you on?

About the Roosts:

Q: What are the ranks of birds?
A: The ranks are: Shaman, Apprentice Shaman, Chief, Apprentice Chief, Fighter, Apprentice Fighter, Elder, Queen, and Chick.
The Shamans are the healers of the Roost and there are two per roost. Each Shaman has an apprentice that they teach the ancient ways of the Mountains of Faorah.
The Chiefs are the leaders. They have apprentices that will take their place once they die. There is only one Chief per Roost, but if they have a mate, the mate will share their rank until the actual chief dies and the apprentice takes place.
The Fighters are the warriors of the Roosts. The more experienced fighters have apprentices that they teach fighting and hunting skills.
Apprentices are chicks that are six moons or older and ready to learn to defend their Roost.
Elders are old or injured birds that can no longer fight.
Queens are female birds that are either hatching eggs or looking after their chicks.

Q: Do the apprentices names change once they are ready to become a Fighter or Shaman?
A: No, but the apprentices must journey to Crystal Stream and drink its waters once their mentor thinks they are ready to have a full status. They’ll be greeted by all members of their roost once they are back, and their name will be chanted.

Q: What’s the Mountains of Faorah?
A: It is the name of the snowy mountains where the birds live. Faorah was a Half Crow, Half Raven that lived long ago. She was supposed to help the birds living in harmony, but instead one of the roosts ended up killing her because she had part of the bird they hated inside of her. The big battle in between ravens and crows is because they both blame the opposite roost for her death.

Q: Do the two Roosts ever meet?
A: If there is a crisis, they will hold meetings in the birch tree that’s in between the two roosts. But meetings are very rare.

Q: What do the Jays have to do with anything?
A: They’re outsiders, like a third party. They don’t belong to any roost.

Q: Do the chiefs get special names?
A: Yes. Male Chiefs have ‘Lord’ in front of their names and Female Chiefs have ‘Lady’ in front of their names. The Chief’s mate also has either ‘Lord’ or ‘Lady’ in their name.

Frozoot turned his head to each side, and then hopped to the next branch. I'm just learning how to fly... I can do this. He hopped again, raising his wings to steady himself, and barely hooked his tiny talons around the thick branch. Let's try this again. He aimed for a farther branch and jumped, automatically throwing his lustery wings into the air. He glided through the low sky and onto the branch, only flapping twice. Now for real. I have enough practice. He took a deep breath, looked up, and jumped.

The tiny gray-jay poked his head curiously out of the little nest of bramble in his hollow log. Chipper spotted a bigger blue-jay hopping around on the branches, and he inched forward curiously. "Hello there!" he chirped.
