I just want to clarify, that you CANNOT use images that are copyrighted, unless you get permission from the Owner! IF IT IS ON TINYPIC.COM OR PHOTOBUCKET, IT IS THERE FOR THE OWNER'S PERSONAL USE! STOP STEALING IMAGES EVERYONE! There are so many places where you can get non-copyrighted images, and this needs to stop! I don't want to get in trouble for being affilated with a site of stolen images!

Um, since when is photobucket stealing? Besides, it's not technically stealing unless you claim it as your own. If you said you drew something you found on another site, THAT is stealing. There are plenty of sites people can use if they don't want their pictures used, Flickr for instance. Photobucket is used for image sharing. It says so in the description if you search it.

Winter, No offence but you're acting like you own RPC, if you paid any attention at all then you would know that a few people didn't read the announcement and are using COPY-righted images.

Varjak, no, PHOTOBUCKET AND TINYPIC, are used for the owner's personal use sharing them, showing them off, NOT FOR TAKING A PIC AND CLAIMING IT WAS YOUR OWN LIKE SOME PEOPLE DO.

I'm sorry if I have been acting like that. But when I'm the only staff member on any more...it's hard not to.

And I do pay attention, thanks. I have been shooting out warnings to members all the time now for using images that are copywrote! At least 2 are this close to being banned. But sorry again if I've been snooty. ^^"

I think Winter is just doing her job. She's right about the other staff members getting on, and she is doing the right thing by taking a stand.

Okay guys, here is the definition of steal:

to take (the property of another or others) without permission or right, esp. secretly or by force

SO, I guess unless you actually asked the artist if you could use it, you stole the pic. It could go both ways though, since pic stealing is only considered stealing when you take the pic and say it's yours.
Basically what YOU'RE saying is that we have to either
A: Draw our own pics
B: Take pictures for ourselves
C: Hunt down the artist and ask if you can use the pic!

Hunting down the artist is a bit much I think. Some people don't want to have to join photobucket or tinypic, just so they can ask to use a picture of a cat for an rp! *coughlikemecough*

I think we should draw our own pictures. And for people who don't have a scanner, TYPE OUT YOUR DESCRIPTION! It isn't that hard, and someone once said to me, if you can't type the simple appearance of something, why role-play? I am also referring to the fact that I am against RPs that say "image only" on their Description section. An image is DIFFERENT than a description. A description is words.

Drawing the picture could be fun also, you're right.

But in my opinion, I think it is easier to get the idea of what the character looks like and ect. by an actual picture.

Yeah, like Winter is saying. Sometimes it is fun to draw, but SOME of us are the absolute worst at drawing, and would rather not post our drawings but just find a photograph instead of writing a description.

What if your not good at drawings? (Not like me...^^) But I am horrible at descriptions! And I don't have a scanner...but if I must I will do pictures. BUT I won't like it!

You could make a description of a picture. Not an exact one, but one with your own flairs on it.

We did'nt say you HAVE to draw your pictures, guys. Just using it as an option. CHILL.

Actually, people upload images that aren't their own on Photobucket all of the time. Did you know that just saving an image that if you don't own any rights to it can be counted as stealing? :) (I've looked it up on dA.) You have to be careful with what you use. And yes, it is for image 'sharing', and yet people use it for image 'finding&stealing' all of the time. Some sites you simply cannot trust; Photobucket is one. :)

Yes, so true. Photobucket is for sharing, and everyone who wants their picture they uploaded on photobucket WANTS them to be used. Plus, they GIVE you the forum codes....Do you think they just put them on there to look pretty??!....i think not.
