| I blame Branch. - Becca P.S. - It's roughly based on 'Computer Friends', but I don't take credit for half the things I write, so if Branch, Vix, Socky, Jay, or anyone else put it in one of their stories, it rightfully belongs to them.
IAgents Preface -
- Spoiler:
Have you ever heard a story, watched a movie, or read a book and then suddenly finished it, only to find that adrenaline is still pumping through your veins and you kind of feel like you could walk outside and take on the world in that one moment? It's understandable, of course, that wouldn't believe me when I tell you that I feel like that every second of the day. What, you want to know more? Fine. My name is Rebecca, I've gone by a lot of things, Becca, Bex, Bexxy, Rebby, SomeoneSpecial, Runa, Lilli, and multiple others, but my true name is just Rebecca. All these other nicknames have come from friends though, not from friends that you would go to a movie with or to the pool. No, these friends are different. I met them on the computer, and now, we're about to meet in real life. My feet hurt and my head hurts, but at this moment, right now, I could have been tied into a ball and I wouldn't have cared, because I was on a mission. Literally. Okay, rewind. You know how before, where I told you I was about to meet my friends from the most totally awesome website in the world, RPC? Well, yeah, I forgot to mention the tiny part where they didn't exactly know I was about to meet them, and vice versa. See, I have a job, so to speak. At the age of seven I hacked NASA's web servers and built my own model rocket based loosely off of one of their own and took the blue ribbon at my Science Fair for it that year. At age ten I successfully learnt my twentieth language, Arabic. Now, at the age of fourteen, I got to one of the top boarding schools in the country, except, this one is sort of for spies. Yeah. Right now, I was in a car on the way to a small town in Granger, Oregon, where a certain girl two years younger than me was just now getting out of her last day of school for the summer. Man, she was going to be POed when I jumped out of the car, kidnapped her and told her that she was coming with me to Vermont (Boarding school). Speaking of her- "We're here." Charles stated as he threw a tiny silver cell phone from the front of the car to my awaiting hands in the back. Pocketing the cell, I nodded at him briefly before sliding out of the Volvo and running a hand through my hair like I had been at the secluded little park a million other times in my life. The car drove off, leaving me to slowly walk down the side-walk and admire the rare bright day in Oregon, though my hair wasn't very happy with the current humidity and frizzed up like Hermione's from 'Harry Potter'. Grabbing it, I pulled it into a pony-tail and spotted her. She was walking alone, Idiot, I mentally scolded, before walking towards her and crossing the road. She didn't even look up when I matched her pace and smiled to myself, "Heya Branch. How's life treating you, today?" I rubbed my aching head and waited for her shocked reply, man, jet-lag was killer on my brain, seriously, and not to mention the backseat of Volvo's was tiny as all get out. You think the CIA could at least give people better cars for missions like this one, I mean, it's life or death people, get with the program, I didn't need to have legs that were cramping while I was trying to run from a psycho killer, now did I? "W-what? H-huh? Who are you?!" Annabelle Marie Jackson stuttered her brown eyes flickering from me to the surroundings in an instant. Good, at least she was already showing signs of her ancestry and abilities, hopefully I wouldn't have to explain much. Rolling my eyes, I refrained from putting a hand on her shoulder and sarcastically twirling my brown hair around a finger and saying in a high pitched voice, 'Well gosh, Branchers, I mean, you think, you'd like, know who your own IBFF is. I mean seriously, everyone knows I'm, like, cooler than Vixxy will ever be.' Instead, I tastefully pulled out my badge, (Dude, it's purple, seriously.) and flashed it in her direction, revealing the type-set name in black stating, 'Rebecca Lillian' and the small emblem on the paper of the CIA, and my title 'Agent-in-training'. Anna's face went from it's normal pasty-ness to red before she practically internally combusted with happiness and tackled me. "REBECCA!" She shouted at me, screaming loud enough that I'm sure I got hearing damage as did the entire West coast from Oregon to Southern Cali. "Dude, calm yourself." I muttered, brushing myself off and slipping on a pair of sunglasses (medicated like my normal glasses, because sadly my vision isn't perfect) and folding my others down and slipping them into a case. "I've got to take you to Vermont, now." "Now? B-But, we just met, and I-" Anna stuttered before going pale again. "Ms. Randall, it's lovely to see you today." A slimy voice stated behind me and I growled before turning and getting a face-full of fist. Oh, this day was going to be good.
Chapter One –
- Spoiler:
“Really, Ethan, really?” I hissed, feeling my nose, where the boy had just punched me in front of Anna. “I hate you, and the FBI. You guys just can’t stay out of the CIA’s business, can you?” The black greasy haired boy with the brown eyes that kind of reminded you of a swamp smirked at me. “Now, now, Ms. Randall; just because the FBI wishes to have agents the same age as you, after the CIA employs you, doesn’t mean that we are trying to spy on another agency.”I snorted, refraining from cursing at him right then and there. One, I was on a mission, and I really needed to get Anna out of there, and two, he just wasn’t worth it.You see, Ethan James Cook lived and worked for the FBI, or, the CIA’s sister agency. The FBI was very competitive, so when the CIA hired me, the FBI retaliated by hiring Ethan, whom I had no idea existed until about a year ago (but that’s another story entirely).“Go away, Ethan. I’m working.” I growled, taking Anna’s arm and turning to steer her towards the Volvo, which was just coming around the corner.“So am I, Rebecca.” Ethan growled, grabbing my shoulder and swinging me back around. Oh, bad move on his part.I released Anna in one fluid motion and brought my fist into the side of Ethan’s face, causing his grip to loosen and allowing me to bring my leg up and kick him right in his soft spot. He groaned, and fell to the ground while I motioned to the car for Anna’s sake, “Come on, your stuff is already in Vermont. We’ve just got to stop in a few more places.”“What are you doing here? Who was that guy? Why are you taking me to Vermont?” Anna fired back at me, struggling against my hold.I glared at her, “Branch, listen; I work for the CIA, no you aren’t in trouble, and no, I’m not here to arrest you. I’m here to take you to Vermont, where there is a boarding school that I attend that trains people our age to be spies. I have to stop other places, like back in Tennessee to get the others. You’ve shown high abilities, and it’s also in your blood.”“At ten months old you spelled your first word, ‘ambidextrous’. At four you learned how to unlock the door to the pantry with a paper clip so you could eat some Oreos. At seven you got to skip third grade and go straight to fourth because of how high your test scores were. Now, at age twelve, you have more awards from spelling bees and other academic things than Albert Einstein.” I continued, explaining things to her, “You’re a genius, Anna, and a black-belt in karate to boot.”Anna blushed, the red blotching on the tops of her cheeks as she looked down at the ground, “When you put it like that, it makes me sound like a genius, but I’m not.” She paused, “You didn’t even mention that after I spelled the word ambidextrous, I accidentally fell down the stairs and gave myself a concussion. When I unlocked the pantry with the paper clip, I accidently sat on it and now have a scar the size of New York on my butt. When I moved up a grade, I had to leave all my friends and ended up having to take three extra classes of P.E. to have enough credits to get into high school. That was when I broke my arm. Now, I have a chronic fainting problem because of the stage freight I get when I go up to accept awards. Not to mention the fact that I only got my black-belt because my partner was a girl that has always been mean to me in my class.”“Excuses, excuses.” I muttered, grabbing her arm and tugging her towards the car. Shoving her into the back-seat, I gave her a rare smirk and rolled my eyes, “Do you seriously have a scar from sitting on a paper clip?”- It was night-time before we got even remotely close to Portland, Oregon, where my next stop was. Anna was asleep in the back of the car after telling me that yes; she, in fact, had gotten a scar from a paper clip. The city lights trickled in through the tinted windows, while in the front seat Charles drove quietly, not even bothering to glance back to make sure we didn’t need anything. As we passed through the city, I set my sights on a large hospital in the distance, boarding the city limits, before we passed it and turned down a small paved road. The car went up the road and then up the hill easily, and without a sound. I could hear Anna’s even breathing as Charles pulled to a stop at the gate and it automatically opened for us. When we passed the gate-house, I promise you I saw Frank, who was the security detail for this mission, but he was dressed in a blue security guard uniform. The house at the top of the hill was massive, and it only seemed more daunting when you took in the woods and forest surrounding it and the large oak doors. A light was on in the front window, and then one up higher, maybe the third or forth floor. It was eight o’clock at night, and I really couldn’t believe I was doing this right now. Sliding out of the car, I walked straight up to the large doors and knocked three times before a man in a tailored black suit answered and looked me up and down, “What is your business here?” “I am here to escort Jay Night.” I answered idly, taking out my badge and showing the butler, “I would assume his parents got the letter.” The butler simply nodded and let me inside, but I glanced up to see the light on the forth floor blink out and the one in the living room brighten. At least I wouldn’t have to explain to Jay’s parents who I was.
Chapter Two –
- Spoiler:
The Butler led me into a living room, where the TV was on. Someone with their back to me was flipping through the channels, before they stopped on a station playing Spider-Man 3. They lifted a hand and motioned for the butler to leave, and I heard the door shut before walking over to the couch. “Hey.” Jay turned to me and raised an eyebrow, “I thought they were joking at first. Obviously they weren’t.” “Gee, thanks. It’s nice to meet you too.” I muttered sarcastically, watching as Spiderman started to kick Venom’s butt in the very end of the movie. “This was my favorite part.” I stated, motioning to the screen. Jay laughed, “Why?” “Because, Spiderman stops being a jerk and pansy and starts kicking butt again. Plus, Venom is completely awesome. I always thought the black suit was better than the red.” I answered, wondering if I would soon have a similar conversation with Dan, who I really needed to contact in Tennessee, but the agency kept telling me, ‘Daniel is an on-call agent only. You can’t call him just to talk; we have to have a legitimate reason.’ I snorted, yeah, like the fact I was going around finding everyone from RPC wasn’t a legitimate reason, considering they all had someone after them. “I never pegged you as the type to like the evil ones.” “They always have interesting back-stories, and do the epic ending speech right before the hero kills them. It’s quite awesome, because they still do it in real life. The irony kills me every single time.” I replied, motioning to the screen where the paper-boy was getting up in Spiderman’s face, talking about something. I wasn’t even fully focusing. “Jay,” I muttered, “We’ve got to get going. Anna’s in the car.” Jay flipped the TV off and stood up from the comfy couch, before offering me a hand. I took it and stood up, brushing myself off. “Where’s the next stop?” Jay asked raising an eyebrow as we walked outside, where his butler was standing with the door open. “Michigan.” I replied, brushing a piece of hair out of my face, “You’d be surprised what some people spend their time doing there.” Jay just laughed and slid into the car, where Anna was still out-cold. Man, that girl could sleep through anything! Sitting down beside him, my phone in my pocket started going crazy. I checked the caller id and growled, “Ugh.” Flipping open the phone, I made my voice falsely cheery and stated, “Hello, Agent Randall speaking.” “Rebecca!” I could hear the smirk in Ethan’s smug voice, “I’m glad I caught you!” “Ethan, what do you want?” I hissed, turning away from Jay and the sleeping Anna, “I really don’t have time for this.” There was a pause on the other end before Ethan chuckled, “Well, you should have extra time, after I tell you this.” “What?” I asked, very confused. “Well, to help our lovely sister agency out, the FBI has taken Alexandria Grange, Daniel Mattson, and Lauren Mallory into custody.” Ethan stated smugly. I completely lost it. “WHAT!?” I shouted into the phone so loud that it jarred Anna awake, “You stole my three agents! ETHAN! If I don’t get back to Vermont and see all three of them standing in front of the Boarding School doors, I will fly to D.C. and personally gut you!” I was fuming, more than angry, furious. Alley, or Alexandria, was street-smart and savvy, and also had a large target on her head because she could literally lie to save her life; as proven by the fact a crime mob in New York was targeting her, and she had yet to die. Danny, or Daniel, was the jokester of the agency, but that didn’t mean he was bad at his job. Dan could find anything in a crime scene, whether that be on a computer to a piece of hair on a couch cushion. He was basically ‘The Mentalist’ without the weird back-ground story. Then, there was Lauren. Lauren was amazing, having come from a strict family of spies and other agents, she was trained in Martial Arts, all branches, and could protect herself well-enough that anything she did was like breathing it was so simple. Alley was the covert (not everyone can say they’re the chameleon) agent. Danny was the white-collar (he could do whatever he wanted and the agency would just sigh and walk away) agent. Lauren was the trained (she was trained in every single combat, and would cheerfully use that knowledge against you) agent. Anna was the genius (even if she was a bit clumsy) agent. Jay was the loaded (in money, and the fact that his shot was amazing) agent. “Now, now, Rebecca; I think the FBI is more than capable of making sure the three of them aren’t killed in our protection.” Ethan stated and then I heard silence. “What happened?” I asked my jaw taut and my teeth grinding against each other. Ethan coughed awkwardly on the other end, “Well, Alley might have been kidnapped.” “I’m on my way. If I get there and there is one hair out of place on either Danny or Lauren’s head, I will not be happy. Do you understand me?” I growled, motioning for Charles to gun it. “I’ll be in D.C. in a few hours, with Jay and Anna. Remember, one hair out of place.” I hissed before closing the phone. Gosh, I knew this day wasn’t going to be good. Anna rubbed her eyes and gave me a curious look while Jay just kind of stared at me, “We’re taking a detour to D.C., someone was an idiot, and now I have to go clean up the mess.” “Who’s he?” Anna asked, pointing to Jay. He smirked at her and extended a hand, “Jay Night, it’s nice to meet you. I think you’ll know me better as Jacob?” Anna grinned, “Wait, does this mean the people you were talking about on the phone are Alley, Socky, and Vix?” I nodded silently and then muttered, “Yeah.” It was best if they didn’t know Alley had been kidnapped, not to mention that people were after them too (Hello, entire reason I was supposed to get them to Vermont, unharmed). Hopefully Ethan could try and not screw up in a four hour time-frame, but some part of me highly doubted it. Man, the head of the CIA was going to have a field-day with my punishment.
Chapter Three –
- Spoiler:
Four hours later and I was standing with my arms crossed in front of a very confused and scared Ethan, he was flanked by two agents. I was flanked by Jay, Anna, Lauren, and Danny. I’ll give you three guesses on who looked more intimidating. I was about ready to kill him, until Anna and Lauren each took one of my arms. “He’s not worth it.” Anna whispered, still most likely insanely happy on what was happening to her. Seriously, she didn’t already have a brace on her leg from falling up the stairs to get a cookie. No, she had literally ran from the car to the doors without a problem, now up the stairs to see Lauren? Totally different story. I felt my lip curl up into a snarl while I hissed, “I’m going to get a machine gun and-” “Bex,” Danny muttered, his voice trying to cover up his obvious laughter, “Alley is a big girl, she can take care of herself until we find her.” “Oh,” I stated, “I’m not worried about her well being. I’m worried about Ethan’s when I get finished killing him.” “Wouldn’t that technically mean, he’s dead? Therefore, you wouldn’t have to worry about his well-being, because wouldn’t he technically be dead?” Anna questioned, tapping a finger on her cheek. I gave her an ‘are-you-freakin’-kidding-me?’ look and glared at Ethan, who was trying to back away from me and my friends. “Ethan, tell me again what exactly happened.” He paled, “Well, I had some agents drop by Michigan to pick Alley up, she was the last one that needed to be, and they found her near her rental cabins kick-boxing and all that good stuff…” Duh, I thought snidely, I knew all of this already. Alley had been discovered because she was a born leader, and because she could totally protect herself, even if it wasn’t as well as Lauren. “I’m waiting.” I muttered, pursing my lips and staring him down. If possible, Ethan got paler, “Well, my agents told her what was happening, and showed her proof that they were the people that the letter had told her about. One agent went back to the car to contact me and tell me they had her, but when he go back Alley and my agent were missing.” “Did you check the crime scene? Did you find any evidence?” From his facial expression, I gritted my teeth and growled, “Did you even look?” “Ms. Randall.” A man stated walking up to our little group, “It’s a surprise to see you on the FBI’s territory. What brings someone of your authority in the CIA here?” “Harrison,” I stated idly, “Flattery won’t get you out of this hole, Ethan’s dug. I want half of your agents on the computers looking everywhere for her. Do you understand me? The other half will be dispatched into teams to go look. If this gang from New York has her, we could have a National Emergency on our hands.” Jay put a hand on my shoulder, where Lauren and Anna had just taken theirs off, “Why would this be a National Emergency?” Danny blanched, knowing where I was going with this. You see, I had ties to the government since I was a child, from the hacking their systems to the fact my father had worked for a branch of them from time to time. Danny was the same way, his mother was a retired agent, along with Otter’s mother, which is how they met as children. Lauren’s story was a bit different, since she was an amazing fighter, her parents had convinced her to try out and train for a karate competition (which she totally kicked butt at, just saying), when she won, one of my own agents had been there cheering on one of her relatives, and saw her. She alerted me, and I contacted her immediately. This is what jump-started the letters. The letters were the four letters I personally sent out to Jay, Anna, Lauren, and Alley, all explaining for one, who I was, two, where I was from, and three, that I wanted them to join the CIA. Lauren’s letter was the first, explaining that I was the real Runa (I had to provide vast details to make sure she really believed me), and how I had even found her. I told them all in the letters that I would contact them as soon as possible to get them to Vermont to train. Of course, throughout the entire process, I was giving Danny updates on the mission. That was when disaster struck. The first thing we heard of while monitoring the four of them was that Alley was being targeted by a group of individuals that lived in New York. Not much was said of them, but what was said, was very, very, bad. I had teams working for hours on end making sure no one hurt her, and trying to figure out why they would pick her of all people. I really shouldn’t have wanted my information so badly. Soon, I found out that Alley’s mother and father had previously lived and worked in New York, and had met various people from the gang before. They weren’t bad people, Alley’s parents, I mean; they just kept running into the gang. When they refused in helping the gang do something, they got angry, like all stupid villains do, and they blew something up. Time Square car bomber anyone? Then they moved to Michigan, and set up shop there, with a small cabin rental place. This all happened a few years ago, but trust me, people like that don’t forget grudges. Now the entire group had label and this label was a very bad one, because if I somehow some how peeved them off, they could very well cause a World War Three, and make things a whole lot worse for America. What is this label, you ask? “They’ve declared themselves a terrorist group that goes by the name of Scorpion, part of a branch of the Al Qaeda terrorist agencies. Who are based in Iraq and Iran. They’ve threatened to bomb the White House if we don’t give them what they want.” I stated softly, explaining everything to the people around me. “What do they want?” Lauren asked, cracking her knuckles, probably thinking about a response along the lines of ‘a good beating?’. I paused and blew out a shaky breath, “They want all of us, and they already have one.”

| (=D YAY! I'm glad you liked it! I debated for forever trying to figure out who to put in the story first, and then ended up using you because it will help me set up the plot. Pfft, you are on PART EIGHT of yours, mine is not and will never be better than 'Computer Friends', that is the RPC classic story. =D Oh, I probably won't be able to update until I get back, but I'll have a boat-load of ideas stored up from the week. Maybe I should take a note-pad with me and write there? -possibly a good idea-)
Chapter Four –
- Spoiler:
There are two types of people in the world, Alley thought while sitting in the chair the Scorpion had tied her into. The ropes actually weren’t as tight as they could have put them, and she was fairly comfortable, but she was still pretty made that someone had tied her up and tried to kill her. I’m like the ringleader, I call the shots, she hummed to herself. Well this was Peachy, (no pun intended on her username on RPC), it was great having a stupid Britney Spears song stuck in your head while you were being held captive. Though, she had to agree it slightly reminded her of herself. She was the leader of RPC now, all eyes were on her at points, like was in the center of the ring just like a circus. “I feel the adrenaline running through my veins,” She whispered as a man walked into the tiny room they had her sitting in. “Are you ready to talk?” He asked gruffly. The man’s face was masked, kind of ninja-like, Alley noted, but she could still tell that he had black hair and brown eyes, not very helpful, but then again, it was at least something. All eyes on me in the center of the ring, just like a circus. Alley spat at the man’s feet and glared at him, but then more people came into the room and surrounded her. She blew out a breath and kept her jaw taut, not answering his question. Let’s see them get anything out of her. “Insolent little girl!” The man shouted, slapping Alley across the cheek. Let’s go. She flinched back and snarled at the man, “Get away from me!” She finally shouted as someone came up from behind her and tried to tighten her bonds. That wasn’t going to help them one bit. Alley blew out a quick breath before shifting her weight and flipping the chair over her back and smashing it onto the ground, breaking her free. Let me see what you can do. Alley sang in her head as two guys rushed her. She picked up a chair leg and whacked one of them across the head with it. Alley did a quick head count, seven including the man she had spat at. Okay, she could do this. I’m running this like-like a circus. The man that had been hit over the head was knocked out, and Alley picked another chair leg up and used them both to her advantage. The imbeciles had forgotten to bring guns into the room with them, and all of them were too scared to go outside for a fear she would break out. She was their leverage. She was their prize. Yeah, like-like a what? Alley smashed a chair leg against another man’s head while he lunged at her and knocked him into another man, three down, and four to go. The man Alley had spat on rushed forward with his large meaty hands in front of him, but she was to small and lithe for him to catch. Like a circus. She did a very impressive dive underneath his legs and slid like a batter trying to make a home-run. When Alley reached the door, brandishing one chair leg now, she darted out and down a hall way. Where am I? She thought her long legs pumping underneath her as she heard the four men following her, and shouting something in Arabic. All eyes on me in the center of the ring, like a circus. Alley burst through a set of doors and right into what looked like a mess hall for the group of crazies. A strange terrified sound bubbled up through her throat as she looked at the various weapons they had out, ready to shoot her with. When I crack that whip, everybody’s gonna trip, just like a circus. She gulped and then did something incredibly stupid and smart at the same time. Alley did a nose dive under a table and grabbed a gun from a man’s holster. Clutching it to her chest, she channeled her adrenaline through her veins and popped up into the middle of the fray. Pointing the gun at the ceiling, she looked around at everyone and then shot. If all else failed, it would help someone find her. Don’t stand there watching me, follow me; show me what you can do. Alley ducked under a man who automatically tried to grab her after the silence the gunshot had caused and raced back towards the door. She could hear various people following her, but the stupid brutes hadn’t even thought about one, closing the doors, or two even protecting them with back-up. Alley dashed through and then down the hall again, checking how many bullets the gun she had, were left. Something whizzed past her ear and she ducked down another side hall-way, they had brought out the guns. Everybody let go, Suddenly, someone grabbed her from an open door-way and Alley struggled with the person’s grip on her gun. The girl bite down on the person’s hand, trying to get them to let go of her, but it was too late. The person still gasped out in pain and loosened their grip a bit. Alley gagged, they tasted like oil and dirt. We can make a dance floor; The person roughly grabbed Alley’s hands and jerked them around, trying to tie her up again. She struggled before the person shoved her into a chair and the re-enforcements arrived. The man she had spat on held her down with both his hands, while a friend helped and someone else bound her hands to the chair, and then the chair to the floor. Just like a circus. Somehow, Alley still had hope that someone had found her, or someone was looking. Someone would find her, and someone would help her escape. “Now look at all the trouble you’ve caused!” The spit-man growled, slapping her again across the cheek and probably leaving a mark. Alley took pride in the fact that she had called dibs on killing him when the time came.
Chapter Five -
- Spoiler:
“We can find her right?” Jay confirmed, running a hand through his messy brown hair. Danny was looking over his shoulder, and Jay was looking over an agent’s shoulder who was tracking Alley as we all stood there. I heard someone shout my name and whirled around. Ethan stood there out of breath and motioned to a computer, “We have her! They’ve got her in a warehouse on the outskirts of New York!” “I’m going to get her.” I stated grabbing my things from the chair I had thrown them in before and running a hand through my own hair. Lauren and Anna snorted in unison, “Not without us.” Lauren growled, glaring at me. “You don’t have training. None of you do.” I replied, wanting to just hop on a plane and go save Alley, but I knew it would be bigger than just that. Danny raised his hand, “Excuse me, I do. So does Ben.” I rolled my eyes, “No. We aren’t dragging Ben into this.” “Come onnnnn, Bex… He’s Ben! He can save the world!” Danny whined, resorting to puppy eyes. “I said no, Socky. Otter is not being cleared for a mission!” “Did someone say Otter?” A guy stated in a suave voice while waltzing into the computer room. Heads turned and I groaned. “Aw, come now, Runa, you know you just love sending Socky and I on missions together.” He threw an arm around my shoulders and grinned at Daniel while fist-pumping him. I blew out frustrated air and gritted my teeth together, “How did you even get in here?” “Oh, Harrison let me in. No worries.” Ben answered grinning and then looking over Lauren, Jay, and Anna, “Who are the extra people?” Anna was beside herself, leaping up and down in pure joy. “OTTER! I’m BRANCH!” She shouted tackling him, while Lauren grinned and tackled him with her. After they were finished with their little fest, Jay nodded to him and did the awkward man hand-shake that lasted five seconds, “Jay Night. Or Jacob.” I rolled my eyes and then glanced at the screen where Ethan still had Alley’s position locked. “I need to get going, Ethan. Get me a car and supplies, now.” “We can’t!” Harrison shouted stomping into the room and slamming the door, “The President put us on lock-down because of that stupid terrorist group! No one leaves!” “Tell him to belay the order!” I yelled back, stalking up to the head of the FBI, “I don’t care who says what. She’s my friend and she’s being held captive. If you don’t let me go, I will go without orders!” Harrison gave me the evil eye, “Then you’ll be fired!” “You can’t fire me!” I taunted back. The door opened quietly and a woman walked in, “No, he cannot, but I can, Ms. Randall, so please, get a hold on yourself.” I gulped and straightened up while nodding meekly at her. Her dirty blonde hair was in a tight bun on the top of her head, and her blue eyes were serious, not even hinting at the joking manner Dan’s had. She seriously scared me, and she was Hanna James, head of the CIA, and my boss. “Now, please, explain to me what is happening.” She stated, gazing at the computer screen Ethan was typing away at. “How did you even get a location?” He paled, “There are always ways, Ms. James. Let’s just say someone really shouldn’t have fired a gun through the ceiling.” Ethan shrugged and then pulled up an entirely different screen, “Alexandria was taken by a cell of terrorists that go by the name Scorpion, they deal with bombings and other types of things in New York and the neighboring states. They are a branch of Al Qaeda and very evil. We believe their main cell is in New York, but we can’t be sure-” Ethan suddenly groaned, “because they just bounced my signal. They have walls up now, around the entire vicinity, it’s like their constantly moving, I can’t get another lock on them. It’s useless; the old lock was a fake.” “What do you mean a fake?” Lauren growled, “So help me, you little dweeb, if you don’t get Alley back, I’ll re-arrange your face!” “Lauren.” Anna stated calmly, “Don’t threaten him; he’s trying as hard as he can.” Ethan turned and gave Anna a large and sickly sweet smile, causing Ben, Dan, and Jay all to loudly gag and mutter things like, ‘I’m going to puke.’ ‘Oh gross!’ and the all too usual, ‘Gag me.’ “Can’t we just bust through the doors and save her?” Ben suggested waving a hand, “Give us all a gun, we’ll gun down anyone we see, and save her. Easy as pie." “I’m afraid not, Mr. Franks.” Ms. James stated standing back up and looking evenly at Ben, “We don’t have a warrant to burst into this person’s warehouse, nor, am I giving a bunch of kids, guns.” Lauren pouted, “Seriously?” “We have to follow the law,” Harrison muttered, “Unfortunately.” Anna tapped a finger on her cheek and then grinned, “What if we disguise ourselves? We could play it out like the Greeks in the Trojan War! We can all pretend to join the cause, go in, save her, and get back out in no time!” “Didn’t the Trojans and the Greeks all die?” Jay asked warily. Anna waved a hand, “Details, details. It can totally work!” Dan laughed awkwardly, “I don’t think so Anna.” She glared at him and pursed her lips, “Then why am I even here? I’m the genius!” Ms. James looked at our little group and then suddenly grinned, “I think I have a plan, but you’ll have to bring Ethan with you for it to work.” “Seriously?” I asked sarcastically, there was no way I was taking Mr. FBI with me on a mission to save my friend. “Yes,” Harrison stated and then smirked at Hanna; it was creepy, like they were reading each other’s mind or something. “I think that will work…” “Someone please!” Jay growled, “Clue us in on the plan!” “Okay,” Ms. James whispered lowly, motioning for us all to get in close, “The plan is this…”
Chapter Six –
- Spoiler:
I’m at war with the world, and they try to pull me into the dark. Psh, like Dan ever listened to the agency’s crack-pot plans. They were all crazy, and never worked, someone always got killed. It was time to take it into his own hands. Loading his gun, he slipped it into his holster and sighed, this was dangerous, going into the Scorpion’s base alone, but then again, he was Socky Monkey, He could do all! I struggle to find my faith, as I’m slipping from your arms. Slowly, but surely, Dan snuck out of the main building under the cover of nightfall. It was around one in the morning, or so, and they had already moved the entire operation to just outside New York City, yesterday for the FBI and CIA’s crazy plan, but now, it was going to help Danny with his own. He slipped away from the base and then started down the road, jogging to save time. It’s getting harder to stay awake, and my strength is fading fast. He was puffing like crazy and sweat was beading on his brow in no time, not to mention Dan was really, really tired. I am Socky Monkey, I can do all. He repeated in his head, humming the Batman theme song under his breath as he came across a dark warehouse at the very edge of town. How did he know this one was right? You breathe into me at last. There were guards patrolling every exit/entrance and cameras everywhere. No matter if it was pitch black outside, they were paranoid as all get out someone would find them and steal their prize. Surprise, Danny thought as he pressed against a small tree and waited for a guard to turn around. I’m awake! Adrenaline coursed through his veins as he dashed through the gate right as it was closing for the night and did a roll on the ground to land underneath a set of brush right before the door. Danny’s heart pounded in his ears as he sung Skillet in his head, one of his favorite Christian Rock Bands, and pretty much the only Christian Rock band. I’m alive! Dan dashed out of the brush and then pressed himself into the side of the building. Right beside him was a door, now where it would lead, he had no clue, but it was a way in, and he was taking it. Wrenching open the door, Danny threw himself inside in a millisecond so the alarms (if there were any), wouldn’t go off on him. Now I know what I believe inside! He landed in a small stairwell with a door to the right of him, a set of stairs going up, and a wall on his left. Dan knew where to look first. All groups like this wanted a quick escape, so it would make sense that all prisoners would be kept on the main floor, so they can be grabbed quickly and escaped with, if they were on the top floor, and there was a fire, the terrorists wouldn’t have time to get the hostage out. Believe it or not, these crazies thought of things like this before kidnapping someone. Now it’s my time. Danny opened the door quietly and peered out; glancing around to make sure no one was watching before bolting out and letting the door close behind him. The warehouse’s main floor was covered with different boxes all at different heights; it was like an Indiana Jones movie on crack. There was no way Dan was going to be able to navigate through this place to find his way out with Alley safely. I’ll do what I want ‘cause this is my life! He slowly walked out from behind a box and then felt something pressed against his back. “Don’t move.” A voice grunted from behind him, it was heavily accented, but Dan didn’t care, he just grinned to himself and grabbed the gun by its barrel before twisting it around and out of the guard’s hands. He brought down his fists on the man’s head and quoted, “Still shooting first and asking questions later?” Right here, right now. Grabbing the gun before it could clang to the floor; Danny gulped and continued on before he was met by a group of six guards, looking like they were missing one, because the formation they were in had a random space in the middle. Stand my ground and never back down. “Six against one; how fair.” Daniel laughed, bringing up his stolen weapon and then his personal one. I know what I believe inside. Before he could do anything, both guns were knocked out of his hands and he was tackled to the ground. Dan struggled to get up, but someone cracked a bone in his arm and tied him up while another covered his eyes with a cloth and shoved a different one into his mouth. I’m awake, and I’m alive. Danny coughed on his gag and stumbled up from the ground, being held onto by, what felt to be at least three different men. Soon he was shoved into a chair and a door was slammed. “Socky?” A small voice whispered, “Why is the moon so lonely?” “Why?” He coughed in reply to Alley while spitting the gag out of his mouth; these people were really bad at tying things, because right as he moved his head, the one blinding him slid down to his chin. Danny was momentarily blind in the pitch-black before his eyes adjusted and he waited for Alley to continue. She smiled, “Because, she used to have a husband.” Alley grinned, “His name was Kuekuatsu and they lived in the spirit world together.” “So this is a true story?” Dan laughed quietly “Mm-hm,” Alley hummed, continuing, “And every night, they would wander the skies together. But, one of the other spirits was jealous. Trickster wanted the Moon for himself. So he told Kuekuatsu that the Moon had asked for flowers; he told him to come to our world and pick her some wild roses. But Kuekuatsu didn't know that once you leave the spirit world, you can never go back. And every night, he looks up in the sky and sees the Moon and howls her name. But... he can never see her again.” She finished somberly, looking at the small glimpse of the moon through the dirty and cracked window. Waking up! “Wow,” Dan finished, laughing at one of his favorite quotes, “Koo-koo-ka-choo got screwed.” Alley burst into laughter, “I knew that you would get that quote.” Waking up! “I am Socky, Peach. I understand all super-hero references.”
Chapter Seven –
- Spoiler:
“What do you mean he left in the middle of the night?!” I shrieked at three guards, from flinched back from me. “Do you not protect any base we’re all staying at? HE SHOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN OUT!” I shouted before someone restrained me from behind, to prevent me from completely going off the wall and killing someone. Danny, my best agent had stupidly snuck out last night to save Alley, and he was missing. I struggled against the person, but suddenly they slapped me across the back of my head, “Hey!” Lauren shouted, glaring at me, “Get a hold of yourself! Good grief, Rebecca!” Calming down, I just resorted to glaring at any guard that crossed my path and scaring them off to where they were going. Ben was freaking out, to saw lightly, he had already tried to track Dan three times and was shouting out orders at a small group of techie’s that were with us in the small building just outside New York. This is where they had moved us to make it easier to get back Alley, but Dan had gone against the plan, and now we had to trash it and make an entirely new one, which Harrison and James were already on right now in a different room. I stood staring at the red punching bag that hung from the ceiling and then threw multiple punches, keeping it going until someone walked up behind me, and scared the crud out of me. “Rebecca…” Ethan stated slowly as I turned around a wiped sweat out of my eyes. Glaring at him to continue, I took a swig of the water bottle I had brought with me for just this reason. Suddenly Ethan tackled me and hugged me, “I’m sorry about your friends.” “GET OFF OF ME!” I yelled, shoving him away with all the brute strength I could muster. “What in the world are you thinking?” I questioned, my voice nearing hysterics. Throwing my boxing gloves down onto the ground, I grabbed my water bottle and stalked out of the room, “Don’t you ever do that again! Go find Dan on a computer or something!” I called behind me, frazzled and freaking out. That was what triggered my bad mood through the rest of the day, which consisted of me shouting and yelling at anyone who did something wrong, from not fixing coffee to someone who missed the trash can when he was throwing his energy drink away. My friends all treaded lightly around me while I watched over the tracking process in the make-shift computer room. It was burning up in the building because they couldn’t get the air conditioning to work, so I probably looked horrible, but it didn’t really matter, because at noon, we finally got somewhere. “Finally,” I growled as Ethan typed on the computer. He had a bruise on his shoulder from where I had shoved him off of me earlier, but I was slightly happy for the first time today because the little dweeb had found something. He cleared his throat, “They’re still in the warehouse they were in before.” “Then let’s go!” Lauren shouted with a grin, “Let me go find a gun and we can go shoot some people and get Alley and Dan back!” “One problem,” Ethan muttered and gulped as the hand I had resting on his shoulder squeezed on it painfully. “They are still bouncing the signal, meaning that we have no earthly idea where the building is.” I groaned in frustration while Jay gave me a sympathetic look. Anna was sulking in a chair across the room, not even paying attention to us because James and Harrison hadn’t gone for her plan, and Dan had messed up theirs. I guessed she was also pretty mad because no one would train her. Lauren was all for just storming the place like Ben, but no one would let us leave the base. “Can you do anything right?” I barked at Ethan, slamming my hand down on a desk and groaning in frustration again, “I mean, it can’t be that hard to type a couple things on a computer and find them! I WANT MY AGENTS BACK!” “Please, Ms. Randall, control yourself.” Hanna James stated walking into the sweltering room. “Harrison and I have figured out a plan.” “I actually think Ben and Lauren are going to like it!” Harrison explained happily, like the entire base didn’t feel like a sauna in the middle of the desert. Lauren and Ben both glared at him, while Lauren snapped, “Flattery won’t help you, Harrison.” Ben nodded in agreement, “Two of my good friends have been kidnapped, and all we are doing is standing in a boiling hot room, I want to go get them, and I want to do it now.” “Alright, here’s the plan,” Harrison stated, taking out a sheet of paper while Anna wandered over to us. “Ben and Jay go in a pair through the main doors, masking as terrorists to get inside, while Lauren and Rebecca stand by to come in as soon as Jay and Ben make sure the coast is clear. The four of you go through the building, find Dan and Alley, and then get out.” “What about me?” Anna questioned, realizing her absence in the entire plan. “You aren’t going.” Harrison stated, “It’s too dangerous, you don’t have any training…” She glared at everyone and shouted, “Fine! Leave me out of all your plans! You just wait; I’ll be the one to save everyone in the end!” Anna stalked out of the room, muttering things under her breath that we would all be sorry. Lauren frowned, “Poor Anna, I know she really wants to help.” She shot a fierce look at Harrison and snapped, “You should have included her in the plan!” “It’s too dangerous!” He defended, holding up his hands. I scoffed, “I’m blaming you if she goes off and does something stupid like Socky, just so you know.”

Chapter Eight –
- Spoiler:
Everybody’s trying to get to me. Anna was far from an idiot, she was a registered genius in fact, but that didn’t mean she got out of being a normal human from time to time. She blew out a frustrated breath and wiped some sweat from her forehead, the base was hot, and all of her friends were leaving in the morning to go save Dan and Alley, and she couldn’t go? What was that about? Anna rolled over in her bed and then stood up. Forget obeying the rules like she always did. Forget being the good little girl for once. She was taking this into her own hands now. Every guy is all for the kill. She was mortified at what she was about to do, Anna grabbed the gun sitting out on the table where the guard was supposed to be protecting the base, but was actually asleep, and held it in her hands before grabbing the holster and attaching it to herself. Now she was armed. Anna had memorized the map from the computer, and remembered vividly where Alley had been located first, stupid non-geniuses couldn’t even remember where the bathroom was half the time. She snorted and snuck out of the base and started down the road. She could get in there, and get out with Dan and Alley, Anna knew it. She’d show everyone that she was more than just smart. Take your best shot, I bet you’ll miss. Anna was breathing heavily and freaking out by the time she reached the warehouse. That had seriously beefed up security since Dan had gotten in, and that was taking a toll on her hysteria. Guards with guns bigger than Anna patrolled the boarders inside a barbed wire fence, but Anna could out-smart them, she wasn’t a genius for nothing. The gun was hidden underneath her long shirt and you couldn’t even tell she had one, not to mention she looked like any old kid, though it was slightly suspicious that she was here in the middle of the night, but that didn’t matter, because Anna spoke Arabic. You hit the bulls-eye baby! Anna flagged down a guard, looking all to convincing with her big doe brown eyes, wild brown hair, and wicked tan from the start of the summer already. She spoke a few words to him in Arabic, saying something along the lines that her father worked in the building and she needed to get inside, and the guard was instantly taken with her. Sucker, Anna thought idly while she was escorted inside. The guard asked her who her father was, and that’s when she went into action. Lashing out with her palm up, she used a karate move and knocked the guard out, dragging him out of the way and taking all the ammo out of his gun. You know, you hit the mark. She snuck along the rows of crates and boxes before coming upon a small group of five men playing poker and smoking cigars. Anna took a deep breath before bursting into fake tears and coming around the corner. All the men looked up at the same time, horrified as she blabbered on about how she was lost and just wanted her Dad. One point for Anna, Zero points for stupid terrorists. She clicked off in her head while they tried to get out of her, her imaginary father’s name, but Anna wasn’t budging. She just kept blubbering about how she wanted her daddy until they finally led her through the rest of the warehouse part of the building and up a flight of stairs. I’m not an easy target. This entire time, Anna hadn’t spoken a word of English, which was what was keeping her cover in the middle of the Scorpion. It was late, so most everyone in the building was asleep, giving her extra disguise in the fact that they could spend the entire rest of the night trying to figure out what her inconsistent babbling meant. As she was left with only one guard, Anna went into action again, kicking him and making him fall before going in for the kill, but he soon realized who she was and lashed out. Anna dodged; she was almost as lithe and small as Alley when it came to fighting, which was what made her so balanced and good in karate. You hit the bulls-eye. The man managed to catch Anna’s leg as she was back-peddling away from him and tripped her. She went sprawling and caught herself right before she hit the ground. Finishing out her landing with a cart-wheel, Anna whirled around and pulled out her stolen gun, shooting the man with two bullets straight through the chest. I’m surprised the way you affect me. Anna’s face was priceless, her eyes and lips big and wide as she stared at herself and then the man lying on the ground. No way was she getting this lucky on a stupid whim. She wasn’t even that coordinated! Her heart started to pound into overdrive when she heard voices coming up the stairs and down the hall. Heavy boots pounded on the floor as the young girl turned and fled, holding her gun close to her chest. Like an arrow penetrating my heart. The darkness spilled in from the windows on the second floor, giving her cover as she ducked around corners and down different halls trying to get away from the pursuing guards and still trying to find Danny and Alley. Suddenly, Anna tripped and went sprawling, right as a pair of guards turned the corner. She squeaked, thinking of a quote from a very old show, I laugh in the face of danger then I… hide until it goes away. Anna took that to heart and slid into an open doorway, curling up into a ball and hoping the guards hadn’t spotted her. She blew out a breath when she heard the guards slowly walk away and thought, It’s funny how the Earth never opens up and swallows you when you want it to. Well, wasn’t she just the quote stealer in times of pressure? Naturally you seem to just get me. Anna slowly unfurled herself from the tiny ball and crawled out into the dark hall. Standing up, she walked along where she was and looked around before slowly pushing open a random door. That random door led right into Dan and Alley’s room. She gasped when she save Dan’s split lip and black eye, not to mention Alley’s busted cheek and scarred arms. They both looked up and shook their heads, but it was too late. So obviously you’re pretty smart. A guard grabbed her from behind and tied her up easily. She groaned after he had left the room and looked at her two friends, “Does it ever get easy?” Anna finally whispered, hoping that at least one of her friends knew the quote. HA! “You mean life?” Danny whispered back and then coughed. “Yeah,” Anna nodded, “Does it get easy?” HA! Dan frowned, “What do you want me to say?” She laughed humorlessly, “Lie to me.” HA! “Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after.” Alley finished sarcastically. “Liar,” Anna muttered through her laughter, “The irony of that quote gets me every time.” “Yeah, considering where we are now.” Dan mumbled yawning, “Wake me when someone rescues our sorry butts.”
Chapter Nine –
- Spoiler:
“I told you I would blame you!” I growled, glaring at Harrison. There seemed to be a lot of glaring and shouting going on at the base, no matter what day it was, and I couldn’t even imagine why everyone was angry all the time. And no, the reason couldn’t be that agents kept disappearing at night. That was unheard of. Ethan and Jay had flanked me in case I went off again on Harrison; Lauren just looked really crazed right now, sitting in a chair. No one would let her near anything sharp, and I didn’t really blame them. She kind of looked like a poster child for an insane asylum, and that wasn’t a good look for her. Ben kind of looked crazy too, rocking back and forth in another chair, muttering things about socks and monkeys. Oh well. He was a big boy; he could take care of himself. Ms. James was standing with her hands on her hips looking at Harrison like he was the biggest idiot in the entire world at that moment, “I can’t believe in the course of three days, you have lost three of my agents. If it wasn’t illegal, I think I would kill you.” Jay chuckled behind me while I saw Ethan frown in my peripheral vision, “I hope Anna is alright.” Lauren’s head snapped up at that and she hissed at Ethan, “She will be alright. I know she will.” Ben looked at Lauren and then me, “We have to save them. Forget the rules, we have too. Can we just not storm the place?” “I told you!” Harrison stated aggravated, “The President won’t let us! He said that it was too dangerous to even let you all go, and now that they have three of our agents, it’s even more dangerous! We don’t have enough officers for back-up, and the Scorpion hasn’t contacted us with a hostage situation, even though we know it is one, and since nothing official has been done, we can’t retaliate.” “THEY HAVE ANNA!” Lauren yelled standing up and glaring at him with tear-filled eyes, “They have my best friend! We have to save them! SCREW THE RULES! Give me a gun and I’ll go save them myself!” I felt for her, of course, I mean, Danny was like an older brother to me; Alley was like a sister, even though we had never officially met, and Anna was like a little sister. I wanted to protect her with my life. “I agree, Harrison.” James stated with a small growl to her fierce tone, “No matter what Mr. President says, we have to save them. They are children, and under government protection, so it’s out responsibility.” “Then what’s the plan?” Jay asked, cracking his knuckles, “I have money at my disposal, if we need it. Anything you need, I’ll supply.” Lauren stood up, color coming back to her shocked pale face, “I have my fighting talents, tell me what to do, tell me who to injure, tell me who to kill; I’ll do it.” “I have my disguise skills.” Ben stated with small laughter before he put on a pretty sweet British accent, which went well with his dirty blonde hair, “Oh, yes, that is quite a good tale, Ol’ Chap! Why don’t we go have a sit and some tea?” I laughed, smiling at him for his comedic relief, without Dan here, it was slightly depressing. Ethan stepped forward, right next to me and glanced at a computer, “I have my technology skills. I can help you guys get hooked up to microphones, and track you, to make sure nothing happens.” Everyone seemed to turn to me and I awkwardly stood there before shrugging, “I’ve got… nothing.” Ben burst into laughter at me while Lauren clutched her stomach. Jay grinned at me and stated, “You have your brains, your brawn, and you’re over-all experience. Plus, we have you to thank for getting us all together. You hold everyone together, no matter how maternally crazy you can get when someone else disappears.” “As lovely as it was to hear your little heart to heart, it doesn’t change anything.” Harrison stated, “What the President says, goes. No one leaves this base, even if I have to assign twenty guards to personally watch you sleep. No one else is getting off of this base. I will personally promise you that.” “Yes, like that threat really stopped Dan and Anna from leaving already.” I replied sarcastically, looking at the door daringly, like Harrison could stop me. I could easily take him down and bolt right now, but I didn’t have my running shoes on, or my gun, so it really would be no use. I could tell Lauren was eyeing the door too, so was Ben. I didn’t doubt that one of them would bolt soon, I just didn’t really expect what happened next. Ben stood up and ran a hand through his hair before giving everyone a small wave and a grin. “Bye guys!” “Where are you going?” Harrison snapped. Ben gave him an innocent look, “To get a water bottle, Pops. Calm yourself, you might give yourself a heart attack.” He patted Harrison on the head like he was a puppy before sauntering out of the room. Somehow, I felt like Ben wasn’t exactly headed for the kitchen to get a water bottle, but I didn’t stop him, because I’m an idiot.
Chapter Ten –
- Spoiler:
The dream is fading, now I’m staring at the door. “Pfft,” Ben snorted, there was never a dream, it was a nightmare. First Dan, his best friend, and then Anna? Oh, heck no. He was taking this into his own hands now, let’s see Harrison or any of them really, and bring him back from saving his friends. He had literally just left the larger room five seconds ago, and now Ben was walking down the hallway headed towards his room. When he reached it, he loaded his gun, strapped it to his side, and then grabbed the stolen set of keys Dan had given him a could days ago, and had yet to return to their rightful owner, who just happened to be Harrison. Oops. I know it’s over ‘cause my feet have hit the cold floor. Ben chuckled to himself as he entered the small garage area behind the building and clicked the button on the key fob. A beep sounded from across the lot, coming straight from a sweet and sleek black Ferrari. The teenaged boy laughed to himself and for once in his life, thanked Dan for breaking the rules and stealing Harrison’s keys before he had left. Climbing into the car, Ben peeled out of the lot and down the road, before the build in cell phone in the car activated and started ringing off the hook. Check my reflection; I ain’t feeling what I see. He checked his mirrors before pressing the button on the dash and a crackled voice came out of the speakers. “BENJAMIN!” Rebecca screeched, “I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU STOLE HIS CAR!” Ben burst into laughter as she went into a major rant, before ending with, “Why didn’t you take all of us? Idiot! Gosh, now we’re all stuck here with a peeved James and Harrison! Jerk!” He listened to her for a moment before coasting on the small road, and seeing the warehouse up ahead. It’s no mystery. “Dude, Becca, seriously? Stop getting mad at me; you’re a big girl, take care of yourself. I’ll be back relatively soon with everyone.” She shouted something about him not being able to take on the Scorpion by himself, but Ben had already turned off the phone feature and made sure it was disconnected before pulling off onto the side of the road and pocketing the keys. He slid on a pair of sunglasses and stepped out of the car onto the side of the road. Checking to make sure his gun was strapped to him, Ben jogged forward before coming up on the warehouse. Now, for the plan. Whatever happened to a passion I could live for? With his dirty blonde hair and dark blue eyes, Ben really didn’t look like someone who would be part of the Scorpion, but that didn’t mean he looked all goody-two-shoes either. Messing up his hair and putting on a grimace, he played up the moody teenager role he had never been and walked up to the fence bordering the warehouse. “Let me in, you idiots!” Ben shouted angrily. A guard walked over with his gun pointed right at Ben’s chest, “Who are you?” The guard growled in a thick accent, “Why are you here?” What became of the flame that made me feel more? Ben snorted, “Because you imbecile, I work here! Good grief! You’d think you’d recognize your own superior!” The guard’s eyes instantly widened as he pulled open the gate and ushered Ben through. He was escorted to the door, where he gave a glare to the ‘incompetent’ guard and sauntered into the building like he owned the place. One point for Ben. I was made to find you. A couple of guards almost seemed to think he actually was a superior and led him up the stairs. Daylight streamed through the windows while Ben barked fake orders, soon getting to the order of if his ‘minions’ had taken any prisoners. A guard gave him a questionable look before leading him to the door and opening it. Alley, Dan, and Anna all set with their hands and legs bound to their respective chair, which was bolted to the floor. Dan’s head rose first, and he did a double take, making sure that his best friend, was in fact, standing in the door-way, there to rescue him. I was made just for you. Ben sent the guards away, pretending to be angry and about to question the ‘prisoners’, but as soon as they shut the door and their footsteps faded, Ben started to untie everyone. “Idiots, all of you! Good grief, you’d think you’d both have more sense in you, than to get kidnapped.” Alley laughed at Ben and hugged him as soon as she was free; Anna was next, touching her rope burns that would leave scars around her wrists. You were waiting on me. Dan was last, grinning at Ben as soon as he could stand. He threw an arm over his forehead dramatically and swooned, “Oh! Gracious knight! How shall I ever repay you for this great kindness?” The dream’s alive with my eyes opened wide. Ben gagged, but chuckled, “Never do a girl voice, again, Socky. You sound like a drugged out grandma.” Back in the ring you’ve got me swinging for the grand prize. As Ben turned to the door, he was met with an open door, with three guards staring at him. He paled, “I thought I told you idiots to leave me with these prisoners!” I feel the haters spitting vapors on my dreams, One of the men stepped forward. He wasn’t a guard himself, which is what send Ben stumbling backwards into Dan and Alley. “N-No… You’re dead.” He stuttered reaching for his gun, but it wasn’t there. Alley was holding it shakily up with her hands straight at the man. But I still believe. The man had white hair that hung limply around his face, but the wrinkles only made the man seem more eerie as he stepped forward and his cracked lips curled up over his teeth like the Grinch’s. Anna trembled, never before have seen this man, but becoming instantly terrified of him. I’m reaching our, reaching up, reaching over. Alley suddenly shot the gun. The bullet went straight at the old man’s heart, but as soon as it hit his shirt it burst into a million tiny pieces and went to the ground. She gulped, Dan steadying her with a hand while he shook his head rapidly, “You evil son of a donkey.” And I’m on my way. “Now, Now, Mr. Mattson, do you really have a need to use that language in front of Ms. Grange, and Ms. Jackson?” The old man asked, rhetorically of course before motioning to the four, “Guards, I want them all bound together to chairs. Protect this room with you lives. No one gets in; no one gets out, except for me.” Suddenly, Ben spit at the man’s feet, “I can’t believe you.” The man looked up at Ben with faded green eyes, “What? You can’t believe that little Rebecca’s grandfather is the leader of the Scorpion?”
Chapter Eleven –
- Spoiler:
“Are you telling me that he just left the car on the side of the road?” I whispered, horrified as I sat in a hard metal chair as two older agents nodded solemnly, “Did you try tracking his cell? What about the phone feature on the car? Anything?” They both shook their heads, feeling my pain. Alley, Dan, Anna, and now Ben; I could barely handle it. My quota for loosing agents was one maybe every twenty years, and I had just lost four. This wasn’t good in my book. Jay sat beside me, while Lauren was on my other side. Ethan gave us sympathetic looks as Harrison stomped into the room shouting about how his precious ‘baby’ was ruined. I flipped out, “Your baby? Seriously, Harrison? STOP THINKING ABOUT YOURSELF FOR FIVE SECONDS! I just lost another one of my friends, and you’re worried about your stupid car! I hope it gets keyed, or something horrible happens to it! I hope it falls into a lake! I hope its ruined forever! You can replace a stupid car! You can’t replace a human!” I wanted Anna to be here, to say something like, ‘Actually you could, if they would just accept my formula for cloning… Idiots.’ But no one said anything as my chest heaved. I was close to hysterics. I couldn’t loose anyone else; I would go off my rocker, completely nut-so. “Lauren,” I whispered, close to tears, “promise me that you won’t go after them!” She frowned, “I can’t promise that, Bex. It’s too stupid not to go after them. We need all of us to band together to just storm the place, but it’s like the entire agency has never heard of bombs.” “We can’t blow the place up, Lauren.” Jay stated evenly, “Our friends are in there, remember?” She snorted, “A tiny grenade wouldn’t do much harm. Just to rock the Scorpions out of their comfort zone so we could go in like that dude from X-Men – Wolverine. The one with the guns? You know the one that Hugh Jackman blows up in the end?” I sniffled, “Dan would’ve understood that reference immediately.” Ethan glared at me, “The Rebecca I know wouldn’t break down because her friends are gone! The Rebecca I know wouldn’t sit around moping and crying! The Rebecca I know would grab two guns, one for each hand, steal a car, and go save them!” “Well what do you suggest I do, Ethan?” I shouted angrily, “I can’t just go up to the Scorpion, blink my eyes and ask sweetly, ‘Can I have my friends back?’ It just doesn’t work that way!” Lauren glared at me and then him, “Stop shouting at each other! That doesn’t solve anything either!” She stood up, fuming mad, “One of them in the Scorpion’s custody has to have some sort of electrical device on them, so we can contact them, right Ethan?” She turned to the black haired boy and put on hand on her hip, “Answer me, Cook, or I’ll shoot you.” She produced a gun, which looked strangely like my own… “Hey!” Lauren turned and rolled her eyes, “I found five in your room. I doubt you need that many.” “I like to have them all in case one jams.” I muttered, running a hand through my frizzed brown hair. It was uncontrollable in the heat of the base, but I had pretty much gotten used to being a lump of nothing when it came to sitting around this base, because that was it. No one would let us do anything. Since Ben had left, Harrison had put everything on lock-down, no one in, no one out. It was slightly crazed. He even had guards positioned outside our doors when we slept at night. Ethan answered her question then, “I know for a fact that Dan has a bracelet that has ‘WWJD’ on it. Each letter has a separate homing device in it. The first ‘W’ is to the CIA’s home base. The second ‘W’ is to a corresponding bracelet that Ben has. The ‘J’ can only be activated if he is on a mission and has immediate back-up.” “And the ‘D’,” I whispered, holding a small necklace that hung around my neck to me. It was on a black cord, and the charm, wasn’t really a charm. It was a sterling silver bead that was looped through the cord, and was a mess of swirls, in the very center of what looked like a flower, was really a small trigger, that sent out a homing signal to anyone I said. “The ‘D’ alerts mine.” I muttered, forgetting all about the necklace until Ethan mentioned it. We were the only three to have the devices, because I hadn’t had a chance to give out every else’s. Each of them had the homing device, and the ability to double as a comms (Short for ‘communications units) unit if we were tracking someone and needed to get in touch with each other. Alley’s was a star necklace, Lauren’s was a moon necklace, Anna’s was a set of clover earrings, and Jay’s was a small shell anklet. I stood up and pushed past the guard at the door before going into my room and pulling out Lauren and Jay’s items. Dashing back, I tossed them to their respective owners and mentally slapped myself for not giving Anna hers already, but then again, Scorpion was smart enough to take any earrings or sharp jewelry off their prisoners, most likely. “Good,” Lauren stated, snapping the necklace around her, and letting the crescent moon fall underneath her tee shirt. “Now that, that is settled; I’ll be off to go save our friends.” I stood in front of her, glaring down at her before taking the gun off her side, and frowning, “Oh no you don’t, Lauren Mallory.” “Say my last name again, and I’ll karate chop you into next week.” Lauren growled. Hanna James walked into the room then, with a small notepad in her hand, “Ms. Mallory, could you-” Lauren reacted on her instinct, sending Ms. James flying backwards and onto the ground. “Ah crap, I’m dead.” She muttered while I burst into laughter once Ms. James stood up and started to shout at Lauren.

Chapter Twelve –
- Spoiler:
Uh huh, this is my beat. This really was Lauren’s beat, she had it on repeat on her IPod while she laid in her bed, eyes closed, but not really asleep. She was completely unaware on what lurked outside her open window, open only because she was burning up and there was no air conditioning in the entire place. Stupid FBI; Stupid CIA; Stupid Ms. James for getting mad at her for throwing her superior into a wall. Ms. James had deserved it for using Lauren’s name, and Lauren would stick to her figurative guns, and stay with her reasoning. She hated her last name; therefore, no one else should call her by it. All the girls stomp your feet like this. Suddenly, something pricked the exposed skin on her arm, but before Lauren could scream, she was fast asleep and the guard sent to kidnap her was throwing her over his shoulder and climbing back out the window and into the waiting car that had been sent. Lauren was special, so Mr. Randall had said to make sure that she was asleep and couldn’t hurt anyone around her or herself, meaning that she had to be pretty much dead, but still with a small heart-beat, because he didn’t want her dead. She was useful. A few times I’ve been around that track. By the time they had gotten back into the safety of the warehouse, Lauren was waking up. She was being held down by four of the biggest guards you had ever seen, and they were all trained in high martial arts combat, and had muscles the size of tree trunks. Lauren could and would totally take them in a heart-beat. She groaned as she woke up and mumbled something unintelligible underneath her breath. A guard leaned down trying to hear what she said, but ending up getting a face-full of fist. So it’s not just going happen like that. She had been awake for the past ten minutes, acting like she was still drugged so she could get her strength back and lash out at the right time. The right time, just happened to be now, while the four guards and Lauren were in the middle of the stairwell. She darted out from underneath one guard and shoved one over the railing, not even waiting or watching the man fall down the space in the middle of the stairs. I heard that you were talking crap. Lauren barely managed to escape one of the last three guard’s beefy hands and ran up a couple of steps to get her bearings. The good thing about them assigning her heaver guards were that they were out of shape, meaning she was like a little mouse an elephant was trying to squish. That was a horrible metaphor, she thought to herself while moving out of the way of another attack by a hugely misshapen guard. He met his end by Lauren kicking him in the chest and sending him down each flight of stairs. Going, Going, Gone. And you didn’t think I would hear it. One had managed to get behind her, and Lauren grinned while thinking, Jacket on, jacket off, and hitting the poor man in the face each time with her elbows, Thank you Jackie Chan from Karate Kid. She grinned again and faced her last guard, who was the largest out of them all, but strangely the most fit. All of his pounds were muscle, not fat, so him body slamming you was like getting run over by a semi, which is what he did, exactly, to Lauren. So I’m ready to attack, going to lead the pack, she slammed into the wall, and something crunched before Lauren leaned forward and cracked her neck and then knuckles, “OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!” She leapt up into the air, did a flip and then brought her leg up and around. Spinning, she kicked the man in the head, not once, not twice, but three times until he slammed down towards the railing, ricocheted off and then down the stairs, eventually falling and slamming into the wall. Going to get a touchdown, going to take you out. Lauren winced, her arm killing her while she instinctively reached up with her good arm to her neck. The necklace wasn’t there. She had left it sitting on her nightstand this entire time. Groaning in pain and frustration, she went up the stairs, picking up a fallen gun and cradling her broken arm to her chest. So I’m going to fight, going to give it my all, Pushing the door to the second floor open, it opened up into a hallway and Lauren walked out into it. It was pitch black outside and in the hallway, so the girl didn’t really have to worry about cover, she would be fine hiding in the shadows, but her arm was killing her. Lauren had to find her friends, and fast. Going to make you fall, going to sock it to you, Suddenly, something growled from the end of the hallway and Lauren heard the distinct sound of claws on tile flooring. Clack, clack, clack, click, clack, clack, clack, click. She pressed herself against a wall, but it didn’t help as a huge black mastiff appeared, flanked by two angry bulldogs. “Ah, I’m screwed.” Lauren whispered, holding up the gun. That’s right, I’m the last one standing, another one bites the dust. The black dog lunged and Lauren pulled the trigger, making the other two dogs fall onto the floor. “She’s slain my Jabber-baby-wocky?” She quoted to herself, snorting. PETA would want her head if they knew what she had just done, but in her defense, they were about to eat her face. That was a good cause to shoot them in her opinion. So it’s not going to happen like that. She continued down the hall, before pushing open a couple doors to no avail. Soon, she turned a corner and spotted two guards who were positioned in front of a door. That’s it, she confirmed in her head, trying to figure out how to get in without getting tied up. This is Anna’s job! I’m the fighter, not the genius! Lauren growled pushing a piece of dirty blonde hair out of her face. Let me hear you say this crap is bananas! Finally, she resorted to just firing her gun from down the hall and letting her guards chase the bullet, which they did. She dashed towards the door and threw it open, closing it right behind her and running up to her friends, which were all sitting up pin straight. “Gosh, you scared the crud out of me,” Anna hissed, rolling her eyes, “Barging in like that, gosh, Lauren!” B-A-N-A-N-A-S. “Wrong move, girly.” A gruff voice growled behind Lauren and tied her up, tugging on her broken arm. She let loose a stream of profanities and cursed at the guard until he left the room to go tell the ones that had been posted at the door what had really happened. “I hope we get rescued for real sometime soon,” Dan hissed, “I really want some bacon, and they won’t give me any.” This crap is bananas. “When that day comes I shall futterwacken... vigorously.” Lauren whispered back, thinking longingly of the best movie in the entire world, and trying to not think of the many things she was going to do to the guard who had caused her so much more extra pain.
Chapter Thirteen –
- Spoiler:
“‘Dear Ms. Randall, I am sorry to inform you that I have had to detain your friends. They are a very nasty bunch, always getting into trouble and other people’s business. This is a ransom note, in case your lack of training had affected your judgment. You will not be getting any of your friends back any time soon if the government of the United States keeps up the prosecution of the Scorpion and other so called ‘terrorist groups’. I bid you a farewell.’” Whoever this person was was crazy. I couldn’t believe the guards hadn’t heard Lauren being kidnapped last night! They were incompetent imbeciles. Glaring at the note Harrison had given me, I heard Jay whisper, “And then there were two.” “Thank you for those kind words,” I muttered sarcastically as he put a comforting hand on my shoulder. “She’ll be fine, you know Lauren. She’s a fighter; she can take car of herself.” Jay whispered, “They’ll be walking through that door sooner or later and Dan will be asking for pancakes and bacon.” Harrison looked frazzled, as did James. I couldn’t imagine why, I mean, they had just had one of their best agents kidnapped right under their stinking noses. No, that wouldn’t be a cause to freak out, now would it? I touched my necklace and then hit the button, “Lauren?” I whispered into the small microphone, hoping that she would have it on. Jay gave me a questioning look before pointing to a small necklace sitting on a table in front of Harrison and James. Ethan leaned on a table with his arms crossed, looking slightly… Cute? I wanted to slam my head against the wall once I thought that, but then again, he had gotten a shower, so his hair wasn’t greasy, and-, You know what? Never mind. Just forget I even said anything, the heat was finally getting to me. I was finally going crazy. He looked up at me and raised an eyebrow before tossing me something. I caught it with one hand and glanced down to see what it was. It was a notepad, with one single word written on it, ‘Grandfather.’ No. It couldn’t be. Jay was talking with Harrison, so Ethan walked over to me and pulled me up from my seat, “I need to talk to you.” I was pulled out of the room and down a hall, clutching the notepad in one hand. Ethan shoved me into a random supply closet from when the base had been an office building and pinned me to the wall. “How is this true?” I whispered, looking up at him, horrified. He blew out a frustrated breath, “I found out this morning. Apparently Dan is wearing his bracelet, but forgot about it. I got knocked against something and it activated the comms unit in it. I heard your grandfather’s voice through the mic. Apparently the five of them are all in one room, tied down. He won’t leave them, even at night. I heard Ben shouting a few choice things at him.” Something must have flickered across my face as I turned away from Ethan and he whispered, “You knew he wasn’t dead… You knew the explosion never happened… Rebecca! How could you not tell the agency?” “I’m sorry…” I muttered back, “He’s my grandfather…” “He’s also the leader of the Scorpion, Rebecca!” Ethan replied harshly, slamming a hand onto the wall and making me jump. I glared at him, “Yes, well, that doesn’t matter!” “He took your friends and threatened to kill them if we don’t stop imprisoning the other terrorists!” Ethan countered, looking at me like I was insane. Suddenly, the door to the supply closet opened and an agent looked in. “Oh.” I winced, this probably didn’t look good at all. “I didn’t mean to interrupt anything- Not that anything is happening-” The agent looked scared for her life while she quickly closed the door again and scurried away. “Wow.” I muttered, bringing a hand up and rubbing my head, “That wasn’t awkward at all.” “Shut up.” Ethan replied leaning down and pressing his lips to mine. I had great pleasure in bringing my knee up and kicking him, before shoving him off of me and then throwing him into the shelves and watching them all collapse onto of him, knocking into Ethan’s head multiple times. “I hope you get a concussion,” I growled, throwing open the door and running down the hall. I ran right into Jay, who gave me a puzzled look before saying, “I was just looking for you. You disappeared along with Ethan. Where were you?” “I’ll tell you where she was!” Ethan shouted coming out of the closet and stumbling down the hall, “She was trying to make a move on me!" I whirled around and socked Ethan right in the jaw, sending him backwards before leaping up and kicking him in the chest, “I WAS NOT, YOU LYING SACK OF-” “Rebecca,” Jay muttered through laughter, touching my shoulder. Ethan stumbled up and then threw a punch in my direction, but suddenly Jay had stepped in front of me and caught Ethan’s fist in his hand. Crushing his hand in Jay’s own, Ethan wailed out in pain before Jay released him and glared, “Don’t you dare, try and hit her again, or you’ll find yourself being sued with two broken arms and a broken leg.” Ethan glared back at Jay with a curled lip, “She’s the one who should be sued. Has she still not told you that her grandfather is the leader of the Scorpion?” “Rebecca!” Harrison suddenly shouted from behind us, with a horrified face, “Is this true? Is he still alive?” I paused, my mouth opening and then closing before completely freezing as Jay pushed me aside while he stormed away, “I can’t believe you.” “Traitor!” Ethan hissed, holding his jaw as he stalked the opposite way from Jay. I was left in the hallway with James and Harrison. I didn’t know what to do. This was horrible… I- I couldn’t believe what had happened. How was I supposed to turn him in, he was my grandfather!
Chapter Fourteen –
I took a walk around the world, to ease my trouble mind. Jay stormed out of the building, no one even bothering to stop him. He was furious. He couldn’t believe that Rebecca, someone who he would have trusted with his life, had betrayed the entire agency. It was horrible, unbelievable, and mind-boggling. Jay fingered the gun strapped to his side, which had just been issued to him by Harrison in case the Scorpion tried to kidnap him next. They didn’t have to go to the trouble though, because Jay was heading there right now to give himself up. There was no point now. I left my body lying somewhere in the sands of time, He ran a hand through his hair and stalked forward on the side of the road. Suddenly, the anklet that Rebecca had given him started going crazy on his ankle, vibrating and beeping. Jay bent down to stop it, but suddenly, a car swerved on the previously deserted road and a door was thrown open. Someone grabbed Jay and pulled him into the car, and he started to fight. But I watched the world float to the dark side of the moon. Kicking the person in the stomach he shouted out in pain as someone whacked him over the head and he was out like a light. The two guards that had been hurt in the small fight glared at the unconscious Jay, but held themselves back as Mr. Randall was in the car too. He looked at the boy and blinked, “This is one of my grand-daughter’s friends? He’s so… Scrawny?” Mr. Randall cleared his throat and sighed, “I do believe that he is the one with money. He should be useful to our cause, boys-” The old man paused as he was climbing out of the car, “Be careful with the package. Make sure he’s comfortable in the room with the others.” I feel there is nothing I can do. When Jay finally woke up, he was tied to a chair and Dan was staring at him. “You stink.” He muttered, “I really hope you brought me bacon.” Jay groaned and rolled his neck, trying to get the feeling back into it, from sitting slumped over for so long while he was unconscious. Dan nudged him with his shoulder and raised an eyebrow, “How did you even get here? I thought you were still with Bex at the base?” I really don’t mind what happens now and then, “You mean that traitor?” Jay finally hissed, glaring at the wall. Dan blanched as Jay continued, “She knew all along that her grandfather wasn’t dead and didn’t tell the agency. She’s the reason we’re all here, about to die.” Jay looked at the rest of his friends, who were all wearing various expressions of shock on their faces at his revelation. As long as you’ll be my friend at the end. A song came to mind as he wallowed in his angry and hurt thoughts. It was one that Rebecca had always said reminded her of him, while they were on RPC, he hummed it to himself, feeling pathetic and played. She had known all along, and she hadn’t said anything just because the man had been related to her. Everyone stayed silent as the door opened a Mr. Randall waltzed in with a cane in hand. You called me strong, you called me weak, The older man started from the Right, working his way down the line, “Alexandria Grange, The untrained of the group. Daniel Mattson, the Jokester of the group. Annabelle Jackson, the genius of the group. Benjamin Smith, the rebel of the group. Lauren Mallory, the fighter of the group. And finally… Jay Night, the rich brat of the group.” Mr. Randall snarled curling his lip at Jay. But still your secrets I will keep. He glared back at the man, “What do you have against me, old man?” Jay couldn’t remember why this man looked so familiar, it wasn’t like he had grown up with Rebecca and seen him at her house or anything of that sort. He wasn’t a neighbor of Jay’s, because Jay didn’t really have neighbors… Who was he? You took for granted all the times I never let you down. Suddenly, Jay got flashes of memories, an old man at the hospital his father worked at. A man at the florist shop that was his mother’s favorite. A man at Jay’s school, asking about something in the office; The man driving by Jay as he walked home; And finally, the man coming to Jay’s door and asking to speak with his parents about business related things. The man Jay’s father had introduced as the head of the Hospital his father worked at. You stumbled in and bumped your head; if not for me then you’d be dead. Suddenly, he wanted to be farther away from this man than anything else on the planet. “Who are you?” He hissed, staring up at the white haired old man, like there was nothing more horrifying on the planet. I picked you up and put you back on solid ground! “Who am I?” Mr. Randall repeated, “My name is Augustus Randall, and I am the leader of Al Qaeda and every single terrorist, gang, and criminal group in the entire world. I raised two sons, Gregory and Michael, Gregory went into the CIA, where Rebecca resides now, and Michael died a year ago, working for me as my right-hand man. I control everything in the world, I am one of the richest men in the entire world and now, I control you.” Augustus Randall paused before whispering, “And I’m about to control the entire group of intelligence agencies, now that I have everyone except my grand-daughter in my hold.” If I got crazy then will you still call me Superman? Ben and Dan just kind of stared while Lauren struggled with the bonds tying her down, making her arm hurt even worse. Anna tried to calm down her friend and stay calm herself. This man was a lunatic, and even Alley knew it. Alley herself was just looking up at the older man, while shaking her head, “How is it you are so evil?” If I’m alive and well, will you be there, a-holding my hand? “Me, my darling?” Augustus asked, “Oh, well it’s quite simple really. If you believe you can do something, even, as you put it, evil, then you can. If you set your mind to something, it can be achieved through great force, or little to none, depending on what it is. I have control, which is what I’ve always wanted.” I’ll keep you by my side, with my superhuman might! Jay shook his head, Rebecca hadn’t betrayed them, she had tried to keep them safely in the dark, but she hadn’t known that her own grandfather had been watching all of her friends, waiting for the right time to strike out and take them right from under her and then, in return, get absolute control of her. He understood that now. Kryptonite! “If I say I completely agree with your crazy rant, can I have some bacon?” Dan questioned, looking up suddenly. Alley shot him a dark glare that made Jay’s skin crawl. This wasn’t looking good.
Chapter Fifteen –
I sat in a small metal chair while the light made the back of my neck sweat even more than it already was. Harrison and James were across the table from me, glaring, trying to break me with the stupidly classical good cop/bad cop scenario. I hated every second of it, because they wouldn’t believe the truth, and the truth was that I hadn’t known he had been alive exactly. I had guessed that it was true, but he was elusive, like a ghost. It was like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands. They wouldn’t let me out of the room to go save my friends, the ones I had tried so hard to protect. Ethan was glaring at me too, from the doorway, preventing me from getting out by standing right in front of the doorknob. I couldn’t take all three of them, because trust me, if I could’ve, I wouldn’t have been sitting in that stupid metal chair at that moment, and would’ve been running to go get my best friends. Harrison suddenly slammed his hand down on the table, “HEY! Answer me, Randall! What does he know about the group?” I glared at him before darting up from my chair and flipping the table over onto them both. Ethan froze at the doorway, holding up his hands in the standard fighting position as I lashed out with my palm up to break his nose. He countered with a blocking move before I leapt into the air and tried kicking him. For a slime-ball, he was a very good fighter, meaning that I was huffing in a few moments, haven’t had fought this hard since I had first sparred with Dan, who was also very good. Ethan threw a punch, catching me in the jaw and snapping my head backwards. I brought my leg up and kicked his side, making him fall to the ground. Trying to get around him, he grabbed my leg and pulled it out from underneath me, sending me sprawling. During this, Harrison and James were trying to get the heavy table off the both of them. Screaming out in pain as Ethan punched my stomach and then kicked it once he was back on his feet; I lifted my legs into the air and used them as leverage before leaping up and landing on my feet unsteadily. He punched me in the face, sending me backwards a bit before I finally let loose a stream of obscenities, jumped into the air, and round-house kicked his head, sending him to the ground, and my door to freedom unguarded. I was good as gold. Wrenching open the door, I dashed out into the hall and then down it before turning sharply into my room and grabbing two guns. Strapping them to my side and making sure they were loaded, I checked my necklace before grabbing the keys to James’ car on the way out. A couple agents tried to stop me, but I made quick work of them before I peeled out of the car lot and onto the road, leaving tire marks in my wake. Hanna James owned a red Jaguar, a little flashy for me with the color, but the car was amazing and it went fast, meaning that I loved it. Soon spotting the warehouse, I jerked to a stop in front of the gate and looked at the guard at the gatehouse overtop of my glasses, “My name is Rebecca Randall, and I’m here to see Augustus, I’d suggest you alert him that his grand-daughter has arrived.” They hurriedly opened the gate and I pulled the car through, pocketing the keys quickly before exiting the car and jogging up to the door. No one said anything as I navigated the warehouse, guards raising their eyebrows. I’m sure I looked pretty angry, meaning that they didn’t want to mess with me if they valued their lives, then again, most terrorists didn’t. Bursting through a set of doors, I ended up in what looked like a cafeteria, where all my friends were lined up, tied to chairs, in the center of the room, and my grandfather stood right in front of them all smiling, “Ah, my sweet, you’ve arrived!” I decided to play along, “Yes, Grandfather! I see that you have everyone here! The CIA and FBI will be so angry to learn what I truly am.” “Truly are?” Ben shouted angrily, “You’re a traitor?” Lauren glared at me while Anna shouted, “No! You aren’t!” I laughed evilly, well, as best as I could, “Yes, actually I am, you little twit. You all should be ashamed of yourselves, and some of you actually call yourselves spies! Ha!” Alley was pale as she stared at me from across the room, but one set of eyes didn’t show any hint of being betrayed. Those were Jay’s. He looked at me with large and piercing dark brown eyes, eyes that knew I was lying. Eyes that knew what I was doing. Eyes that knew I was risking my own life for all of my friends; lastly, eyes that trusted me. I almost broke down then and there, but I just jutted out my chin and glared back at him evenly, looking as menacing as possible, “Grandfather,” I stated, walking over to him, “When are you planning on killing the prisoners? I’d so, like to watch."

| Heehee, this just gets better and better. I agree, the CIA has everything under control and then the FBI butts in and ruins everything takes the credit! Like the Scotland Yard always take credit when Sherlock Holmes solves a case!
But I'm not going to pretend like I know the inner workings of a spy network. XD Continue, please!
post script: Is Granger, Oregon a reference to Harry Potter? Or am I just overthinking things again? XD | |

| (xD I think I'm going to try and write one chapter a day during the week, and take the week-ends off. It's not like I'm doing anything else during the day. If I can't keep that up, then I'll make it something like Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Tuesday and Thursday. It all depends on how the story develops, though I do know that it will be moderately long, with the chapters staying around 1,000 words each, maybe more.)
Chapter Sixteen –
I can’t make my own decisions, or make any with precision. It was literally killing me to watch my friends squirm as the guards put them back into that tiny room, but I had to play along if I wanted to save them from the death I knew my masochistic grandfather was planning. He was horrible, and now I knew why my father never spoke about him and had moved out as soon as he had turned eighteen to join the CIA. My mother had never liked my father’s side of the family, and now I understood. Wow, she had been serious when I had heard her refer to him as a ‘raving lunatic that was a ticking time bomb’. Now that I thought about it, a song had come to my head, describing my situation perfectly. It was about how someone was telling someone else everything they had to do, which is what exactly I was doing to keep myself and my friends alive. Well maybe you should tie me up, so I don’t go where you don’t want me. I definitely didn’t want to be tied up, which is why I was standing by, watching Lauren struggle with a man with one broken arm, wincing every time the man pulled the rope around her tighter and tighter, so tight I was afraid she wasn’t going to be able to breathe. Jay knew my plan; I guessed he could read my facial expressions like a book, because when both guards turned away from him, he gave me a small smile and a nod before going back to his perpetually hard glare, which sent shivers down my spine. You say that I’ve been changing, that I’m not just simply aging. As the guards left and my grandfather motioned that it was time for us to go, every single one of my friends shot me the nastiest look they could muster in their current states, everyone including Jay, but his was softer, in understanding more than pure spite like everyone else’s. Just keep on cramming ideas down my throat. I blew out a small breath to myself and followed my grandfather out of the room and to dinner, where I ate and talked with him like I was on his side. It was horrible, the things and ideas he was feeding to me. They were all so graphic and detailed that I lost my appetite half-way through and blamed it on the fact that I was just really full. You don’t have to believe me, but the way I see it. I definitely didn’t have to believe him, and I wasn’t. Soon, he said that it was time to go to sleep and told me where my room for the night (that he had been preparing for me) was and went off to his own quarters. I knew what I had to do, and I had to do it now, or there wouldn’t be another chance. I was on a time constraint. My grandfather was killing my friends tomorrow, at exactly ten in the morning. Next time you point a finger, I might have to bend it back and break it off. I pretended to go to sleep, counting the minutes until an hour had passed, and I was sure the guards were about to switch shifts. This was when I was going to strike. I had slipped Jay a pocket knife from behind, before, hopefully he had used to release everyone and they were waiting for me, not to kill me, but to escape. Tonight, we were blowing the entire warehouse up. If God is the game that you’re playing, well we must get more acquainted. My grandfather was trying to play the role of God, deciding who was dying and at what point of time they needed to. He had too much control, and I was about to take it all away from him. It was a sad thought, but I knew that if I didn’t make sure he was dead this time, I would regret it in the long run and there would be bigger issues and problems later in life, caused by him. It was time to end this. Because it has to be so lonely to be the only one who’s holy. Apparently, I had timed it just right, as the two first shift guards were leaving down the opposite end of the hall that I was on, and the other two weren’t even here yet. I opened to door quickly and scanned the room for guards before tapping Jay’s shoulder twice, a sign that it was me and the coast was clear. He stood up, the already cut bonds off of his feet while everyone else moved and got to their feet. Good thing I had a car, because most of them could barely stand, let alone run all the way back to the base. It’s just my humble opinion, but it’s one that I believe in; Lauren suddenly tackled me and gave me a large lopsided hug, “I can’t believe you made us think you were evil!” She hissed suddenly, glaring at me in the dark, while Dan and Ben just shook their heads at me. Someone came up from behind me and hugged me quickly. You don’t deserve a point of view, if the only thing you see is you. “I’ll admit you had me going for a few minutes, but then I realized my best friend would never do something like that. You’re to much of a softy.” Jay muttered with a small grin. This is the last second chance. I bit my lip and punched him on the shoulder, “I am not soft! You great idiot!” Anna rolled her eyes while we all turned towards the door and quietly ran, or more-so stumbled down the hallway. “Alley, do you have the bomb?” I whispered, and she nodded as we ducked into a room, narrowly missing a set of two guards, but after they left, we were clear. I’m half as good as it gets. We all made a mad dash for a door at the end of a hall, and then went down the stairs before going straight out the side door to the building. Alley took out the bomb, and then pulled the pin before we all ran like heck to the car. I peeled out of the lot and saw the building combust in my rearview mirrors as I burst through the closed gates and careened down the road, the car hitting the pavement unevenly. Shards from the burning building hit the back of the car while I pressed down on the gas peddle and everyone stayed deathly silent. I’m on both sides of the fence. We had just blow up a building with my grandfather in it, the leader of the Scorpion and Al Qaeda. Without a hint of regret. I didn’t have a hint of regret. Next time you point a finger, I’ll point you to the mirror. I pulled into the lot for the CIA and parked Ms. James’ car, she was angrily shouting into a phone by the door while we all got out. When she spotted us all, she dropped it and Harrison paled. Dan helped Lauren inside, who needed a doctor for her arm, and Ben helped Alley inside, who hadn’t eaten any good food for an entire week and was seriously malnourished. Anna just stumbled inside, moaning about chocolate chip waffles and water. Jay took one look at the bloodied up me before grinning and whispering, “I still think of us as Twin One and Twin Two.” “So do I, Jay. So do I.” I whispered back before we walked into the building, heading straight for our friends to make sure they were all okay, because they were all my team, and gosh darn it, I was going to make sure they were all safe, even if the past week I hadn’t done such a good job with it.
Epilogue –
“Alexandria Grange, for supreme abilities while in a hostage situation.” The President announced, handing the smiling Alley a metal. “Daniel Mattson, for extreme courage.” He announced next grinning, “Benjamin Smith, for rebelling at the best of times.” He took his award, along with Dan and walked to the opposite side of the stage with Alley. “Annabelle Jackson, for intelligence beyond Einstein’s own and bravery worthy of a lion.” She blushed as she received her metal and joined the other three. Lauren, who was sporting a bright neon blue cast on her arm walked up next while the President stated, “Lauren Mallory, for fighting skills that would make a trained assassin run for cover, and strength in difficult times.” Jay was last, before me, “Jay Night, for trusting your friends in a time of great stress and being the rock of the group.” The President paused before saying, “Finally, last but not least, Rebecca Randall, for pulling the pin even when the time was difficult, and being able to stick to her friend’s sides, even when all looked like it had been lost.” I took my award and shook the President’s hand before being the last to join the group. It had been two weeks since we had blown up the building and effectively halted the entire terrorist groups’ progress for a long time. Harrison and James stood proudly to the side, grinning at all of us like they had planned the entire thing. Ugh, I was still extremely angry at them for the interrogation those two weeks ago. They should’ve believed me, and then I wouldn’t have the three fractured ribs from stupid Ethan, who had disappeared off the face of the earth. Not even Harrison or James had been able to find him after I had left. It was really strange, but I wasn’t really worried. Only a couple of guards had survived the bomb, meaning that the CIA got custody of them and took them all in for questioning. We ended up busting the other groups of terrorists and completely stopping a couple of oncoming attacks they were planning. Al Qaeda was no longer in the U.S., and we were the ones that had done it. It was good to know that for a long time, the country would be safe from crazies like my grandfather, who was now dead somewhere in the pile of rubble that used to be the warehouse. I blew out a breath and sat on the stage as the President finished up his speech and smiled at everyone for the billionth time today. Oh well, I couldn’t really dampen the good mood I was in. I had my friends, who were really my family, and that was all I needed in this world for now. Harrison and James had told us that we would all be attending the Vermont School for Gifted Children in the fall and they had pulled some strings so we would have all of our classes together. Well, I guess you could do that if your friends had singled handedly brought down an entire terrorist group together. We were dismissed from the ceremony, our group of eight, including myself, sitting at a small round table. Alley drank a sip of her water before raising her glass, “To us, for being one of the greatest groups of teen spies ever.” Lauren laughed and raised her glass, “Yes, and let’s all hope that Alwein doesn’t suddenly appear and ruin it all.” Anna nudged her and chuckled, “You are such a bright and optimistic person.” She mumbled sarcastically while Ben and Dan burst into laughter. The both of them started to sing a song from ‘Lord of the Rings’ where all the hobbits are dancing on a table and singing a song with bear cups in their hands, except, I think Dan and Ben are more funny when they are trying to act drunk. I chorused in with them, clanking my drink against everyone else’s while tables of adult spies gave us questioning looks. I didn’t care, what could I say to them? We were all mad, but all the best ones are. Now, I need to know something. Have you ever heard a story, watched a movie, or read a book and then suddenly finished it, only to find that adrenaline is still pumping through your veins and you kind of feel like you could walk outside and take on the world in that one moment? It's understandable, of course, that wouldn't believe me when I tell you that I feel like that every second of the day, because I am a spy, and will always be a spy, with my friends to back me up at every moment of the day. Because we were the IAgents, a group of specially trained, crazy as all get out, friends.

| xDD Socky, to answer your many questions. One, I didn't see the P.s., because I was hyped up on tylonol last night. Two, no, you are over-thinking things. And three, I understand the demands, I really want Branch to post more Computer Friends, but I know that it sometimes takes a while to get a good chapter. Thanks everyone! Sub, Jay, Branch, Vix! I forgot to thank you all last night, but readers are what truely make me want to write more! | |

| A'doi. How did I not see this?! It took Otter's silly signature to tell me you had chapter 2 up. Hooray! I'm the Mentalist! (That show is pretty cool.) ...Now I can't stop thinking about the new show on USA, White Collar. XD You rule. This story, it's just...so...down-to-earth, you know? We're spies, we kick butt, we sit back and watch Spider-Man 3. WIN. So write more now? :D | |

| xD, Your comment literally made me laugh out loud, Socky. I hoped someone would catch those references! 'White Collar' and 'The Mentalist' are some of the best crime scene shows out there, second to NCIS only. =D You just seemed like the type to be like Neal (from 'White Collar'), with all the suave-ness, and the fact that he's hilarious as are you. OTTER! =D, I'm glad you liked it! (Your sig is insanely cute... I can't stop staring... O.o) Remember, one chapter a day, besides this one was longer than all the others. I just couldn't stop once I started. | |
